Full Field of Top Dragster and Top Sportsman TEAMS expected to compete this weekend at Empire Dragway

Quick 32 Sportsman Series cars part of NEOPMA/PMRA Pro Modified event in first of two shows

LEICESTER, NY – With only a few days left before the NEOPMA/PMRA kickoff race at Empire Dragway this coming long weekend, Quick 32 Sportsman Series Director Bruce Mehlenbacher said he is very pleased with the expected Top Dragster and Top Sportsman entries that are scheduled to participate at the Northern New York State facility in Leicester, NY.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series will participate with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association (NEOPMA) and the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA) at Empire Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Challenge IV and V, on June 30-July 1 and August 18-19, 2023.

The merger of Pro Modifieds of the NEOPMA and the PMRA was successful in 2022, and it was decided by officials to continue with the two-race series. But, an added bonus for drag race fans is the return of the dragsters and door cars in the companion Quick 32 Sportsman Series.

“John (NEOPMA President John Mazzorana) and I were pleased with the Pro Modified involvement last year,” said Mehlenbacher. “And along with a strong Pro Modified show and a large contingent of those cars returning for this year, we welcome the addition of the Sportsman cars to add to the show.”

It is expected that a full field of Sportsman cars from the states of New York and Pennsylvania, and the province of Ontario will race this weekend on the Empire eighth-mile.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series entries will be divided among Top Dragster and Top Sportsman cars. Some of the entries include New Yorkers Moe Alfaqih, Tim Antinora, Jim Bersanie, Craig Chadderdon, Charlie Elmer Jr., Buddy Forrest, Craig Giodano, Andy Gregoire, Jennifer Guenther, Bob Jaus, Rachel Jewell, Mike Kalin, Jarrod Kissinger, Doug Lynden, Pete Maduri, Frank Malvaso, Dan Minguela, Paul Minguela, Josh Mills, Vince Musolino, Natalie Musolino, Tony Platania, Mark Romanofsky, Lucas Salemi, Bill Stevens and Ron Szewczyk, who will do battle with Dave Burchell, Luke DeJonge, Jeff Gable, Wes Goddard, Tony Positano, Bob Robinson, Diane Thiffeault, Mike Wagg and Kayden Wicke, all of Ontario.

“We have a great lineup of cars,” added Mehlenbacher, who has worked with Jerry Scaccia in the past, and both are instrumental in putting together this show. “With the large number of Sportsman cars, along with a great group of the best Pro Modifieds in the Northeast US and Canada, fans will see a great race.”

Qualifying will be held Friday at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Saturday at 12:00 noon with eliminations staring at 2:00 pm Saturday.
