FireAde pro Larry Morgan ready to complete remarkable turnaround

POMONA, CA – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan will complete one of the most remarkable turnaround Larry Morgan - Motorplex, Saturdayseasons when he races in the Auto Club NHRA Finals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

A season ago, Morgan was able to win only one round all year, but in 2015, after aligning with FireAde and Gray Motorsports, he has two victories and 25 round-wins and currently sits sixth in the Pro Stock points standings. He has multiple race wins this season for the first time since 1990, when he won four times.

“I figured when I let the clutch out in Phoenix during the test (before the season) that I’d have a good year,” Morgan said. “I thought I’d be all right, and I was. I can’t say enough for Ron Thames and FireAde and all the great people at Gray Motorsports and all my guys, too. Without them all, I couldn’t have done any of it. I’ve had a hell of a year.”

FireAde has provided financial support, and Gray Motorsports supplies engines and technical support for Morgan’s Chevrolet.

Morgan would love to finish in the top five in the points standings, something he hasn’t done since 2004, when he ended up fourth. Morgan is 65 points out of third place, 50 out of fourth, and only seven out of fifth.

“It’s not over yet,” Morgan said. “We’re not finished. I’ve been in three finals and won two of them, and I feel good about it. I’m just a really blessed guy. I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve enjoyed the fans, and I’ve been very lucky.”

And he’d love to have a little more luck at Pomona, one of the most historic tracks on the NHRA schedule.

“It’s real cool to get to race Pomona,” Morgan said. “It’s a fairground. We have cotton candy and all that, but we need a Ferris wheel. NHRA should do that.”
