FireAde driver Larry Morgan has a secret weapon for Pro Stock opponents

POMONA, CA – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan has a secret weapon in his pit area for the Auto Club NHRA Larry Morgan - Pomona, SaturdayFinals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona: his wife, Diane.

Morgan, with a little help from Diane, continued to make improvements on Saturday. He qualified No. 10 for Sunday’s eliminations, but he’s still within three-hundredths of the quickest car in Pomona. Morgan’s best lap was 6.526 seconds at 212.56 mph, while No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson’s top pass was 6.490 seconds.

“We’re kinda sneaking up on it a little bit,” Morgan said. “Actually, my wife Diane has done a lot of work this weekend trying to get us better. She’s looked at the computer and all the data and has made some great suggestions. She’s a smart lady — well, except for marrying me! — and she’s out here to work. I’m glad she’s in our corner.”

Morgan started the weekend with passes of 6.535 and 6.537 during Friday’s sessions. For Saturday’s first session, he made a run of 6.538 at 212.73 before making a move forward in Q4.

Now, Morgan is ready to race for his third victory of the season. He’ll start off against Bo Butner, who qualified No. 7 with a top pass of 6.513 seconds at 212.66 mph. Chances are good the race will be won on the Christmas Tree, but Morgan is ready.

“We’re good to go tomorrow,” Morgan said. “I’m pumped up about our chances, and I hope to kick their butt tomorrow.”

Morgan has had a resurgent season, winning in Charlotte and Denver after winning only one round all of 2014. A partnership with FireAde and Gray Motorsports has powered Morgan to new heights in 2015, as he’s racing for a spot in the top five of the Pro Stock points standings.

“We’ve run decent this weekend, but we still have a lot left in this ol’ FireAde car,” Morgan said. “If I can drive well tomorrow, we’ll be OK.”
