EYESON DESIGN WEEK INCLUDES LINGENFELTER COLLECTION TOUR

June 18 Event to Benefit the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology

BRIGHTON, MI – This Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., The Lingenfelter Collection will open the doors of LPE Brighton Facilityits private collection of nearly 200 unique vehicles as part of the 29th annual EyesOn Design week of activities. The Lingenfelter Collection, located at 7819 Lochlin Drive in Brighton, Mich. 48116, is considered one of the most impressive personal vehicle portfolios in the country and includes a variety of late model exotics, Corvettes and muscle cars.

The event is open to the public with proceeds from ticket sales benefitting the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. Minimum donation per person is $15.

Owned by Ken Lingenfelter, a life-long auto enthusiast and CEO/owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, the collection includes several vehicles that are considered some of the rarest in the world, including a Bugatti Veyron, an Enzo Ferrari and a Lamborghini Reventón. The newest addition is a LaFerrari, a hybrid with 789 horsepower and a V-12 engine that accelerates from 0 to 150 mph in 9.8 seconds.

About 40 percent of the Lingenfelter collection is devoted to Corvettes, including both new and classic editions. Standouts are an extremely rare 1953 McCulloch Supercharged Corvette, a 1954 Corvette from General Motors’ styling department, the historically significant Duntov “Mule Car,” a Greenwood GTO Corvette, a GT90 Corvette coupe as well as a convertible built by Dick Gulstrand, the only C6 Callaway Speedster, a Pratt & Miller C6 CSR as well as several new 2016 Z06 Corvettes equipped with Lingenfelter’s performance packages.

The vintage 1953 Corvette model is one of two six-cylinder 1953 Corvettes built by McCulloch Motors with superchargers for GM’s evaluation of its potential against the competing Ford Thunderbird. The unique model, VIN E53F 001 024, became the first supercharged Corvette in the world. The supercharger concept was never implemented by GM even though the system raised the output of the Blue Flame inline six-cylinder by 35 percent and lowered its 0-60 times from 12 seconds to 9 seconds. The car is number 24 of the 300 Corvettes that were built at GM’s Flint Michigan Plant in 1953. It is believed to be the only one still in existence.

Among the latest additions to the collection is the 2016 Z06 Corvette that has been equipped with a Stage One engine package from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The upgrade increases the LT-4 engine’s horsepower and torque without sacrificing drivability, while providing better throttle response and acceleration. The 6.2L engine package boosts supercharger performance to raise horsepower from 650 stock to 720 horsepower, with an increase of peak torque to 730 lbs. ft.

In addition to hosting the Saturday EyesOn Design Lingenfelter Collection tour, Lingenfelter has been invited to display two unique Corvettes in the EyesOn Design Car Show taking place at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House at 1100 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, on Sunday, June 19. The event begins at 10 a.m. and attracts members of the transportation design community, collectors and the public to celebrate and reflect on automotive design.

Vehicles for the event are chosen based on the year’s theme by invitation only. More than 350 vehicles will be displayed at the show on Father’s Day – a record number for the event. In addition, the EyesOn Design car show features special exhibitions and concept and production vehicles that debuted during the previous year’s auto show circuit, including those awarded at EyesOn Design at the North American International Auto Show.

Judges for the event are active and retired exterior and interior designers from leading automotive and supplier companies. General admission is $25. Children under 12 are admitted free with an adult. Admission is also free for active duty military with an ID.
