Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for Sept. 1

BROWNSBURG, IN – NHRA fans and competitors, mark Sept. 1 on your calendars as the day for the eighth annual Eric Medlen 2016 Gold TournamentEric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament, benefitting Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent, has been one of the favorite charity events of the season for the drag racing community. It will again be held at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis before the U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway and will be hosted by Morgan and Katie Lucas and Morgan Lucas Racing.

“Katie and I are always overwhelmed by the support of the NHRA community for this event,” Morgan Lucas said. “We are so thankful for everyone who comes and plays and has some fun and supports such a worthy cause in the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

“Eric was a wonderful person who touched a lot of lives during his time with us, and this is just a small way for us to honor him.”

Medlen was a popular NHRA racer who died during a testing accident in 2007 in Gainesville, Fla. He loved spending time with children, so in his honor Morgan and Katie Lucas founded the tournament in 2009.

More than $350,000 has been raised since the tournament started. An MRI room in the hospital was dedicated in Medlen’s honor in 2014, in large part because of the success of the golf tournament.

For early registration and sponsorship opportunities for the tournament, contact Brittany Bailey at (317) 350-2166 or bbailey@lucasoil.com.
