EPHA Joins Ahten Racing Beginning in Pomona
POMONA, CA – Johnny Ahten Racing is proud to announce that EPHA Inc. has signed on as an associate sponsor
starting at this weekend’s Circle K NHRA Winternationals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. This is EPHA’s first involvement back in the NHRA since walking away from the sport after winning the 2004 NHRA Championship.
“We are very excited to bring back Mitch Myers’ company EPHA to the class,” said Johnny Ahten. “Top Alcohol racers are a close family and Mitch has a long history of success. EPHA offers performance hose protectors, spacers and looms, safety sheaths and ladder guards. Opening up the season with a new sponsor is also a great way to kick the 2017 racing season at our home track. We know how to run fast here and we are up to the challenge.”
In other sponsor news, DJ Safety is celebrating its twentieth anniversary so a new sticker graces the sides of the car. The Island Renovations/Combust Filters dynamic duos are still loud and proud supporters’ of Ahten Racing.
Johnny and his crew chief Al Ahten spent the off season going through the Ahten Racing dragster affectingly know as the Stump Puller. Wiring, fuel, and clutch systems were checked and replaced, blocks and heads freshened up and the car is fit for racing duty. Tune-up profiles were also discussed during the short time off with racing partner Howard Katano. Bob Ahten, Kevin “Shark” Colvell, Chuck Costabile and John Mark will also be in Pomona to start the year off.
The 2017 NHRA season is finally here and everyone at Ahten Racing is extremely grateful to the fans, sponsors and the men and women of NHRA that make racing a safe and fun experience. Let’s get this party started!
