DRAPER TOOLS SUPPORT ALLARD CHRYSLER DRAGSTER RESTORATION

The Allard Chrysler Action Group (ACAG) is pleased to announce that Draper Tools has joined the list of those clive tool boxbusinesses supporting the restoration of Europe’s first dragster – Sydney Allards 1961 Allard Chrysler owned by the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

Draper Tools was established in 1919 and is now based in Chandlers Ford – not far from the National Motor Museum. It is a hugely respected and much used automotive industry trade supplier being a one-stop-shop for professional mechanics, motor factors, MoT garages and automotive repair workshops.

The focus is always on quality and their range includes hand service tools, diagnostics and workshop equipment. As well as the Draper branded products the company also supplies Knipex, Elora and Kapro Tools. Their website address is www.drapertools.com and Mark Smith of Draper Tools can usually be found in the drag racing pits at race meetings.

ACAG Chairman Brian Taylor says, “I would like to thank Draper Tools for their support. With the 354 Chrysler engine switching from nitro to methanol it meant that we didn’t need the pressurised fuel system on our starter trolley. We wanted to replace this with a neat tool box to carry equipment likely to be required during the start-up procedure and Draper had just the job with their blue 2 drawer unit”.

“After conversations with Mark Smith and John Draper they came up trumps and the unit was prepped at Chandlers Ford for us to fit to the trolley at the next Work-In Day at Beaulieu. I look forward to inviting them to the museum once the box has been installed”.

The two photos below show Marketing Director Clive Richardson outside the Chandlers Ford office with the box plus another of the box installed on the trolley on display at the museum.

He said, “Draper Tools is pleased to provide one of its tool boxes to the Allard Chrysler Action Group. It’s great to be able to have our brand associated with a project like this and we wish them the best of luck with the restoration of such a legendary machine”.
