DeFlorian Wins X-DRL Inaugural Event in Tulsa
Tulsa, OK – X-Treme Drag Racing League made its debut at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park and Black Diamond Motorsports John 
DeFlorian set the tone for the season in the Clean Coal Camaro with a number 1 qualifying position of 4.04 seconds elapsed time at 178.40 miles per hour then advanced though the field for the win.
In what proved to be the best weather for the weekend, DeFlorian took the number 1 qualifying position in his Clean Coal Camaro built by Jerry Haas Race Cars and powered by Sonny’s Racing Engines, in Saturday’s opening session .
DeFlorian defeated Black Diamond Motorsports Team Owner Kevin Bealko in the America’s Power GXP in the first round of eliminations. Bealko had the better reaction time but was unable to hold off the dominant DeFlorian hard charge of 4.095 seconds et at 176.56 mph .
In the semi-finals DeFlorian faced the resurgent Dean Goforth but Goforth left before the lights were activated handing the win to DeFlorian who would have to face Scott Hintz in the Chevy versus Ford finals .
With the wind howling and threat of rain DeFlorian and Hintz lined up for the final round of X-treme Pro Stock. DeFlorian had a fitting finish to the weekend as he ran a 4.122 et at 174.89 mph to defeat a red-lighting Hintz .
It’s DeFlorian’s third career win and sixth number one qualifying position in Pro Stock, and gives him incredible momentum for the rest of the 2013 X-DRL season.
“This is unbelievable stuff. It’s what dreams are made of. I never thought I would have the opportunity to do this,” DeFlorian said. “I have to thank Karen and Kevin Bealko and I’m so grateful for our team. If it wasn’t for all of them, I wouldn’t be here.
“This is tough territory and I knew it would be a challenge. I’m just thankful and very happy.”
“It was an extremely challenging weekend. We were really fighting the weather, and the wind was blowing so hard you really had to fight the car. When moments like these come around, you just have to savor it,” DeFlorian said.
