Deflorian resets World Speed Record while Qualifying Number 1

Ennis, TX – Black Diamond Motorsports Jerry Haas Race Cars built Sonny Racing Engine powered 2012 Camaro driven by John
DeFlorian improved his world speed record in Extreme Pro Stock by going 179.95 miles per hour (MPH) that also took the No. 1 qualifying spot with a run of 4.04 seconds elapsed time (ET).
If it holds up for Saturday’s qualifying round, it will be DeFlorian’s fifth No. 1 qualifier in his first year in Extreme Pro Stock .
“Coming down here, I thought we could go 180 mph and I still think we can,” said DeFlorian, who also thanked Sonny’s Racing Engines. “The weather has been consistent and conditions are exceptional out there. We couldn’t be happier.
“Sonny’s have given us great power and the car is working really well. This team is amazing and the guys just work their tails off.”
Kevin Bealko in his Jerry Haas Race Cars built Sonny Racing Engine powered 2011 GXP powered his way in to the 14th qualifying spot with a 4.096 ET at 176.77 mph in the third qualifying session . Kevin will be looking to move into the upper half of the field in Saturday’s qualifying session .
