Champions to be determined in sixth and final event of 2011 drag racing season

CAYUGA, ON – The 2011 season will be completed for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series September 9-11 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.

This sixth and final round will determine the winners in each series, and with a very tight points race in each series, this final race of the season will establish the 2011 champions.

“The points in all three of our series are very close right now,” noted Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all series. “Those who have a chance of winning the title will have to be on their game plan, and will be running their strongest tune-ups in an effort to win the championship.”

Leading the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport is Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario, with 1047 points. Tied in second place is three-time PMRA champ Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, and Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, both with 1034 points. Next is Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario with 1022 points, and rounding out the top five is Mark Nielsen of Brantford, Ontario with 1004 points.

The points race in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series Standings is just as tight, with Top Sportsman driver Phil Sampson of Granton, Ontario leading with 868 points. Top Dragster driver Jamie Bridge of Napanee, Ontario is next with 848 points, while Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ontario, with 809 points in his Top Sportsman entry.

Fourth in the series at present is the Ingersoll, Ontario-based team of Bill Wilson and Rob Gray with 761 points, and Bob Bauer Jr of Elma, New York is fifth with 761 points in his Top Sportsman car.

Randy Hope of London, Ontario has a healthy lead in the Pro Bike & Sled Series Championship Point Award Series Standings with 855 points with his Top Bike. Top Sled rider James Miller of Orillia, Ontario is second with 791 points, and Top Bike rider Dan Cryderman of Thamesville is third with 779 points. Dave Marshall of Prescott, Ontario and his Top Sled entry are fourth with 778 points, and in fifth is Top Sled rider Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario with 772 points.

The Cayuga race, September 9-11, will complete the seventh season of the PMRA, the third season of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the inaugural season of the PBSS.
