Top Dragster Standout Steve Johnson Has Big Plans for Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod
MORRISON, CO – Top Dragster standout Steve Johnson hasn’t retired from racing, but he did want to take this year
off when it came to driving. That is, except for one race.
Johnson will compete in the $5,000-to-win MagnaFuel Pro Star 16 Shootout for Top Dragster as part of the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway.
The reason is simple.
“This event is way too bad ass to miss,” Johnson said.
That, and a bit of redemption, was more than enough to get Johnson, the Vice President and General Manager at Fineline Graphics, excited to get back behind the wheel for one race in 2018.
Robert Costa Eager to Prove Wrong Nitrous Naysayers at Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod
MORRISON, CO – The word is that nitrous Pro Mods will struggle mightily in the high-altitude conditions at
Bandimere Speedway. Robert Costa is determined to change that way of thinking and he is ready to do it on the biggest stage.
Costa, the owner of Albuquerque Dragway, will campaign his nitrous-powered ’70 Duster at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 just outside of Denver.
The thin air on Thunder Mountain may put a nitrous car at a disadvantage, but with 15 years’ experience racing at Bandimere, Costa is confident he can prove the naysayers wrong at the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe.
“I think people are going to be surprised that a couple of nitrous cars can run with them,” Costa said. “It’s going to be cool to have all three combinations there. Being somewhat of a no-name racer, maybe they will take us for granted and think we may be the easy prey. But we will be competitive.”
Bill Miller Engineering Added as Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod Event Sponsor
MORRISON, CO – It was announced today that Bill Miller Engineering (BME), a longtime leader in forged
aluminum pistons and connecting rods, was officially named a sponsor for the upcoming DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver.
The second annual event features the top Pro Mod competitors in the world, all racing for a $100,000 winner-take-all prize in what is billed as the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe. BME is a noted powerhouse in motorsports when it comes to manufacturing aluminum connecting rods, forged racing pistons, wrist pins and superchargers, giving the World Series of Pro Mod another marquee partner.
“Bill Miller Engineering is a legacy brand in our industry, and has long since been a driving force in the racing world, introducing new technology and employing a never-settle attitude, and we couldn’t be more proud to have them join the World Series of Pro Mod for 2018 and beyond,” Drag Illustrated Founder and Editorial Director Wes Buck said. “Bill and his team believe in fast doorslammer racing – Pro Mod, drag radial and the like – and that’s exciting and, I believe, an indication of the impact events like WSOPM are having on the sport.”
Brad Anderson Enterprises Named Event Sponsor for Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod
MORRISON, CO – Industry leader Brad Anderson Enterprises (BAE) has been named a sponsor for the upcoming
DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, race officials announced today. The second annual event, known as the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe, will take place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver.
The addition of BAE adds another standout company to the highly-anticipated Pro Mod race, which will award $100,000 to the winner and will feature 32 of the best Pro Mod competitors in the world.
“Drag racing has always been a driving force for our business, and I’m happy to still be involved after all these years,” BAE Founder Brad Anderson said. “Pro Mod has been an interest and challenge for us, and we’re very excited to be a part of the World Series of Pro Mod. We’re proud to not only support this race and what it means for Pro Mod, but also the many customers we have competing for that $100,000 grand prize. We wish them all the best of luck on ‘Thunder Mountain’ this August.”
Denver Local Tommy Johanns Thrilled to Race for Home Crowd at Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod
MORRISON, CO – Living less than an hour from Bandimere Speedway, Tommy Johanns is a good judge when it
comes to the pulse of Denver-area racing scene.
In his view, the excitement level approaching the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 on Thunder Mountain, is already approaching impressive territory.
“It’s definitely the talk of the town around here, there’s no question,” Johanns said. “It’s the talk of the town and I think it will remain that way.”
Count Johanns as one who is counting down the days until the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe takes place.
Johanns was a participant in the inaugural race a year ago, driving his supercharged ’53 Corvette in front of a huge following of family and friends. Racing at his home track in a race that’s bringing 32 elite Pro Mod cars from around the country together for a $100,000 winner-take-all event is also a source of pride for Johanns, a longtime Top Sportsman and Outlaw Pro Mod driver.
Two-Time Pro Stock World Champion Erica Enders Joins World Series of Pro Mod Field
MORRISON, CO – A year ago, Erica Enders was drawing names out of a hat and making bets with her team on who
would win the inaugural DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod. This year, she’s betting on herself.
The two-time Pro Stock world champion has officially thrown her name into the hat as a participant in 2018, as Enders will compete Aug. 10-11 in the World Series of Pro Mod at Bandimere Speedway.
Enthralled with the high-stakes, winner-take-all Pro Mod action of the inaugural race in 2017, Enders, who made her NHRA Pro Mod debut earlier this year, literally jumped at the opportunity when handed the invitation by Drag Illustrated Founder and Editorial Director Wes Buck.
“I was so excited. I was jumping up and down like a little kid. I’m super stoked,” Enders said on Buck’s Facebook Live show. “It was so exciting watching the live feed and the craziness that the race was, and to now be a part of it, I’m so excited and so honored.”
M&M Transmission Joins List of Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod Sponsors
MORRISON, CO – With a penchant for being a part of big-time drag racing events, it only made sense for M&M
Transmissions to become a partner for the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway. Drag Illustrated officials announced the sponsorship today for a race that will pay $100,000 to the winner.
M&M Transmissions has become a force in the Pro Mod ranks over the last handful of years, which made being a sponsor at the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe a natural fit.
“To me, this race has a premier feel to it and all the top Pro Mod guys will be there,” owner Mark Micke said. “That’s what we look for when we sponsor an event. We want to sponsor the best events out there, the ones with the most hype and the fastest cars. It falls in line with what we do and it’s going to be a big event, one of the top events of the year. As far as Pro Mod racing goes, this is the top of the food chain and for us it’s a no-brainer.”
Clint Satterfield: ‘The World Series of Pro Mod is the Highlight of Our Entire Year’
MORRISON, CO – Clint Satterfield might have lost in the first round of the inaugural DRAG ILLUSTRATED World
Series of Pro Mod a season ago, and his 2018 NHRA Pro Mod season hasn’t gone according to plan thus far.
But good luck convincing the Pro Mod veteran that the $100,000 check going to the 2018 winner of the WSOPM, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway, won’t be coming home with him.
“I’m just saying I’m going to win,” Satterfield said. “After I started looking at time slips last year, I believe I had fastest car there. I know I had faster time slips. Plus what we learned last year, we’ve got some tricks for them. I know the car hasn’t shown a lot of promised on the track yet, but I promise you, it’s one bad ass hot rod.”
It’s a brand-new “Turbo Pig” ’69 Camaro that Satterfield debuted this year, working with Larry Jeffers Race Cars and Xtreme Racing Engines by Carl Stevens, and Satterfield is anxious for its potential to be unleashed.
Jerry Bickel Race Cars Added as Sponsor for Upcoming Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod
MORRISON, CO – The list of successful Pro Mod customers from Jerry Bickel Race Cars is a lengthy one, and now
the noted chassis builder will be sponsoring the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe.
It was announced today by Drag Illustrated officials that Jerry Bickel Race Cars has been named an event sponsor for the upcoming DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway and will award $100,000 to the winner of the highly-anticipated race.
“With the success of the event last year, this year stands to be even better and it is exciting to be involved,” Bickel said. “Anytime there’s an event like this to benefit my customers, I like to be able to participate and help that event along. Right now, our main customer base is Pro Mod. It’s a very exciting and interesting class, and the $100,000 on the line at this race is, without a doubt, a huge deal.”
Jerry Bickel Race Car’s state-of-the-art facility in Moscow Mills, Mo., has created some of the most innovative and successful cars in Pro Mod, and is the chassis builder of choice for a number of the elite participants in the WSOPM, including defending champion Mike Bowman, Mike Janis, Todd Tutterow, Jim Whiteley, Shane Molinari, Chad Green and many more.
‘Stevie Fast’ Jackson Promises ‘Longest, Stinkiest, Nastiest, Smokiest Burnout of All Time’ at WSOPM 2018
MORRISON, CO – Big burnouts, a big payday and big excitement. If Stevie “Fast” Jackson had to sum up his
thoughts and his plans for the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod that would be it.
Yes, things have not gone according to plan the last two months on the NHRA Pro Mod circuit. But with a month to work until the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe takes place on Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway, Jackson is daring you to bet against him at the $100,000 winner-take-all event. Just make sure you bring cash.
“I’m up for any type of shenanigans that cause anyone to talk trash,” Jackson said on Wes Buck’s Facebook Live show. “If somebody wants to call me out for Denver, they can call me out now. (But) I wouldn’t bet against us in the long-term.”
Jackson may seem ripe for the taking at the moment. Since a crash at the finish line during the finals of the NHRA Pro Mod Four-Wide race in Charlotte in late April, it has been a struggle for one of the most popular and outspoken drivers in the sport.
