DeJoria Drives Camry to Final Round At NHRA Mile-High Nationals

DENVER, CO – Alexis DeJoria drove her Bandero Toyota Camry to the final round in Funny Car before falling to Matt Hagan in a match-up of the two top qualifiers to lead Toyota at Sunday’s NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in the first leg of the NHRA’s Western Swing.

DeJoria opened the day with a first-round victory over Jack Wyatt, where she took the lead by the 60’ mark and led the whole way with a stellar 4.042-second run, matching the second quickest time of the round. Up next was Funny Car point leader Bob Tasca. The two left the starting line side-by-side, but DeJoria pulled out to a healthy lead by 330’ on the way to running a 4.070 for the win.

In advancing to the semis for the second week in a row, DeJoria would square off with Tim Wilkerson. She had the starting line advantage and went straight down the groove for the win with her best pass of the day – a 4.034 at 313.22. With the win, she advanced to her first final round since coming out a two-year retirement in 2018-2019.

DeJoria Top Toyota In NHRA Denver Qualifying

DENVER, CO – Alexis DeJoria registered a 3.982-second pass at 323.50 mph in her Bandero Toyota Camry to qualify second as the top Toyota in preparation for Sunday’s NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway .

DeJoria has now qualified in the top two in four of eight races this season and been in the top five in 11 of the last 13 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events.  She will enter Sunday having advanced to the semifinals in two of the last four races.  DeJoria will face Jack Wyatt in round one on Sunday.

J.R. Todd qualified seventh in his DHL Camry and will open eliminations with point leader Bob Tasca.

DeJoria, Brown Take Toyota To Semis At NHRA Norwalk

NORWALK, OH – Alexis DeJoria drove her Toyota Camry to the Funny Car semifinals, with Antron Brown also advancing to the Top Fuel semis to lead Toyota at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park, Sunday.

DeJoria opened the day with a first-round victory over Paul Lee, chasing him down at the top end to win by .039 seconds to advance. In the second round, she’d square off with Matt Hagan. Hagan had a starting line advantage, but DeJoria chased him down by the 660’ mark on the way to the victory with a 3.952-second run in her Bandero Camry.

In the semis, DeJoria registered her fifth 3.9-second pass in six runs on the weekend, but fell just short against Cruz Pedregon, losing by.0184 seconds or approximately nine feet. DeJoria has now reached the semifinals in five of the last 11 races.

DeJoria, Brown Lead Toyota In NHRA Norwalk Qualifying

NORWALK, OH – Alexis DeJoria ran a 3.936 at 327.58 mph in her Camry Funny Car, while Antron Brown registered a 3.790 at 317.87 mph in his Toyota Top Fuel dragster as each qualified sixth for Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.

DeJoria, who has qualified in the top half of the field in all but one race so far this season, will face Paul Lee in round one on Sunday.

She’ll be joined in the Funny Car field by fellow Toyota Funny Car drivers Mike McIntire and J.R. Todd. McIntire secured the eighth spot, earning one bonus point in Saturday’s first session, while Todd placed ninth, setting up a first-round match-up between the two on Sunday.

Toyota Team Report Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals 

Norwalk, OH – Kalitta Closing In On Milestone… Doug Kalitta will be looking to become just the fifth driver in history to register 50th Top Fuel wins at the team’s ‘home’ track in Norwalk, just over 100 miles away from the Kalitta Motorsports shop. Kalitta, who will be driving the Applied Imaging Toyota dragster this weekend, already has one victory at Norwalk after taking home the Wally in 2015. In addition to the 50-win milestone, Kalitta is just three victories away from tying Antron Brown and Joe Amato for third all-time.

Toyota Top Fuel Drivers Look To Continue Norwalk Success…Toyota Top Fuel drivers will be looking to score the manufacturer’s seventh win in the last 12 races at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Larry Dixon earned Toyota’s first Norwalk wins in 2009 and 2010, followed by Del Worsham in 2011, Khalid alBalooshi in 2013, Antron Brown in 2014 and Shawn Langdon in 2016.

Three Toyotas Advance To Second Round In NHRA New England Nationals

EPPING, NH – J.R. Todd advanced to the second round in Funny Car, while Doug Kalitta and Antron Brown did the same in Top Fuel to lead Toyota at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway, Sunday.

Todd was one of just three Funny Car drivers to register a pass in the 3’s in the opening round, handily defeating Cruz Pedregon to advance to a second-round match-up against eventual race winner John Force. The DHL Camry driver had the advantage on the tree, but Force was able to run him down by the 300’ mark and led the rest of the way.

Coming off another top-five qualifying effort, Alexis DeJoria had a sizable lead over Robert Hight at the 330’ but was up in smoke at 660’ giving Hight the first-round victory.

DeJoria, Kalitta Top Toyotas In NHRA New England Nationals Qualifying

EPPING, NH – Alexis DeJoria ran a 3.963 at 320.58 mph to qualify fifth in her Bandero Toyota Camry Funny Car, while Doug Kalitta registered 3.788 at 320.51 mph in his Mac Tools Toyota dragster to place fifth in Top Fuel to lead Toyota in qualifying for Sunday’s NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway.

DeJoria was in the top-three in both of Saturday’s sessions to earn three bonus points in earning her tenth top-five qualifier in the last 11 races. She will match up with Robert Hight in Sunday’s opening round.

J.R. Todd placed ninth in his DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car and will face Cruz Pedregon in the first round. Todd was the only driver in the Funny Car field to run a 3.9-second pass in each of the weekend’s three qualifying sessions.

Now, if the Mac Tools Toyota driver can register one additional round win this weekend in Epping he would become just the fifth driver in history to register 50th Top Fuel wins. Kalitta is just three victories away from tying Antron Brown and Joe Amato for third all-time.

Brown Looks For Second New England Win…Antron Brown will be shooting for his second career victory at the New England Dragway this weekend after winning the 2016 New England Nationals by defeating Steve Torrence in the finals. Should the long-time Toyota driver triumph this weekend, it would be his third victory in the last six Camping World Drag Racing Series events after closing out 2020 with a win in Las Vegas and then taking home the Wally earlier this year at Atlanta.

Kalitta Takes Toyota To Finals At NHRA SpringNationals

BAYTOWN, Tx – Doug Kalitta advanced to the final round in Top Fuel before falling to Steve Torrence in the rain delayed NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park, Monday.  It marked the second final round appearance of the season for Kalitta, who was sporting Mobil1/TRD sponsorship this weekend. With the strong showing, he jumps back up into fifth in the Top Fuel standings.

After struggling in Saturday’s qualifying, Kalitta opened the day with a victory over Brittany Force, setting up an all-Toyota second round against Antron Brown. Brown had a two one-thousandths advantage at the tree, but was up in smoke early, giving Kalitta an easy win. That sent him into the semifinals against teammate Shawn Langdon. Langdon had a slight advantage on the starting line, but then started to haze his tires. He pedaled it, but couldn’t get it to hook up. Kalitta started to mix up cylinders, slowing on the top end, but was able to hold on for the win.
