NHRA SUMMIT RACING SERIES SET TO RETURN TO LAS VEGAS FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, ADDING EV CLASS FOR 2022 SEASON
INDIANAPOLIS – Already the world’s largest motorsports program when it comes to racer participation, the NHRA Summit Racing Series is
set to grow even more during the 2022 season with the addition of the new electric vehicle (EV) class.
Boasting as many as 80,000 racers competing in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle categories across NHRA member tracks across North America, the series will add to that with the inclusion of the EV series this season. Drivers in those classes will race for championships in each of the seven NHRA divisions in September and October, with the winners advancing to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship, which returns to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will take place Oct. 27-30 as part of the NHRA national event.
Division winners in the EV class will race for a national championship for the first time, too, joining other championship hopefuls who will be in the hunt for the more than $140,000 that will be paid out to the 40 competitors attending the finals, plus contingency. Summit Racing Equipment, an industry leader in the distribution of auto racing parts and equipment through catalogs and the Internet, continues to be a strong supporter of the series, along with the addition of the new EV class.
Interview: KB Racing’s Dallas Glenn
We are happy to report that newly-minted KB Racing Pro Stock driver Dallas Glenn earned his first event win at the NHRA Four-Wide
Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina this past April. Glenn piloted the RAD Torque Systems and Silver State Refrigeration-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro on a 6.540-second, 209.88 MPH pass that was good enough to take the win over Mason McGaha, Fernando Cuadra Jr., and Troy Coughlin Jr. in the final round.
Glenn has spent the last several years handling back-end duties for Jason Line’s Pro Stock team. With Line’s retirement from driving duties at the end of the 2020 season, Glenn saw his opportunity to get a Pro Stock ride. He’ll be competing in four NHRA national events this year.
Jason Line is sure proud of his former crew member, too.
“I just want to say, ‘I told you so,’ he said with a chuckle. “Dallas is a great guy and a great driver, and I’m super excited for him as he gets further into his Pro Stock career. He worked hard for me, and he’ll continue to work hard and make the most of the opportunity.”
Summit Racing’s Will Schertz sat down with Glenn earlier this year to talk about his new dream job and the journey he’s taken to get there.

Jason Line to Retire from Pro Stock Driving Duties After 2020 Season
NHRA celebrates 50 years of Pro Stock in 2020. Turning 50 and having 50 Pro Stock wins to his name, Jason Line
feels the numbers add up just right for retiring from behind the wheel of the Summit Racing Pro Stock Camaro. The three-time NHRA Pro Stock champion has dubbed this final season of driving for Ken Black Racing The Finish Line Tour.
Line will channel his fierce drive to win into building and tuning Pro Stock and Sportsman-class race engines at the Ken Black Racing shop in Mooresville, North Carolina.
“It’s been a good run, and I’ve really enjoyed driving a Pro Stock car for Ken Black and Summit Racing,” Line said. “I’m not leaving Pro Stock—I’m just going to be working for wins for KB Racing from a different kind of seat.”
“We are very grateful to Jason for all of his contributions as a Summit Racing Pro Stock driver,” said Summit Racing President and CEO Scott Peterson. “He is a great driver and we’ll miss cheering for him as one of the faces of Team Summit.”

PRO STOCK VETERAN GREG ANDERSON KNOWS BACK UP AGAINST THE WALL APPROACHING NTK NHRA CAROLINA NATIONALS
CONCORD, NC – Greg Anderson is no stranger to performing well in pressure situations. But the four-time Pro
Stock world champion knows he needs something great at this weekend’s NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals at state-of-the-art zMAX Dragway to stay in contention for another NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world title.
Anderson will be the first to admit the start to his Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship has not gone as planned in his Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro, as the veteran has just one round win through the first two playoff races. It’s dropped him to seventh in points, 107 behind teammate and points leader Jason Line, but good news for Anderson is he usually rises up when the pressure is on, and he’s always felt good racing in Charlotte, the home track for KB Racing.
“This race is probably the cutoff point for me and we’ve got to make it happen this weekend,” Anderson said. “We definitely got off to a bad start to open the Countdown and we got ourselves in a hole. We’ve got to make some hay and there’s a lot of pressure this weekend, but it seems like we sometimes need that extra drive or motivation to push us. Hopefully that wakes me up this weekend because we certainly can’t wait any longer.”
