Paolo Giust Leads Quick 32 Sportsman Series Going into Round Two

CAYUGA, ON – Round two in the 2010 Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will take place June 25-27 at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.

The Top Dragsters and Top Sportsman cars of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will compete in the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend at the Southern Ontario track.

The event is the first of three trips to Grand Bend for the Series.

After the opener on the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park in May, Paolo Giust of Osgoode, Ontario, leads the Championship Point Award Series race with 339. The Top Dragster driver not only won the division, but took out Steve Corriveau of Fonthill, Ontario in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series final. Corriveau with his 1967 Chevy II is second at present with 315 points.

Lynja Motorsports Dragster Ready For Quick 32 Series Opener

NAPANEE, ONTARIO – Jamie Bridge said he expects some stiffer competition for this season’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts tour.
 
The Napanee, Ontario driver was named the Series Sportsman of the Year, placed second in the Championship Point Award Series and believes the stakes will be raised for 2010.
 
“I think the level of competition and drivers will be much higher this year,” said the driver of the Lynja Motorsports Top Dragster. “I think it’s going to be a dogfight right to the end.”
 
Driving his 2008 Undercover Motorsports dragster, powered by a 565-cubic inch Engine Research & Development (ERD) engine, Bridge qualified for all six Quick 32 Sportsman Series events last year, highlighting his season with a runner-up spot in Top Dragster in June at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Doug Morgan and Buddy Forrest Ready Battle in Quick 32 Sportsman Series

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK – The dragster team of Morgan and Forrest had a successful first year in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and team crew chief Doug Morgan said he and driver Buddy Forrest are prepared to take the momentum into this year’s tour.
 
“We’re ready to rock,” said Morgan, who along with Forrest race in the series’ Top Dragster class. “We’re looking forward to it. We had a successful season last year.”
 
The Rochester, New York-based team competes with a Spitzer Enterprises dragster, powered by a 638-cubic inch Chevy engine using a nitrous oxide system. The power goes through a two-speed Powerglide to the rear slicks.
 
The team did not compete in the first event of 2009, but had a good showing for the remaining five events in the six-event tour, qualifying for all other races. Along with a runner-up spot in the Top Dragster class during the Labor Day race at Grand Bend, the team finished the season in style with an overall win during the final Quick 32 Sportsman Series race late in September at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
 
Morgan said there are no major changes to the car for 2010.

Campolucci to Run GTO in Quick 32 Sportsman Series

WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO – Since he started drag racing in 1974 with his father’s 1970 GTO, Maurizio (Maurice) Campolucci has always raced Pontiacs.
 
After a couple of years as crew chief for son Michael Angelo, Maurizio will be behind the wheel of the 2007 GTO, the owner of the world’s fastest naturally-aspirated Pontiac with a traditional engine said he will be ready for the start of the 2010 Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
 
“We should be ready for opening day,” said Campolucci, who heads up Stallion Motorsports and the 2007 GTO which took the record at the Grand Bend Motorplex last October with a 7.361-second, 184.57-mph pass. “We’ve been doing some updates to the motor, but that and the tranny are ready to drop in.”

Kevin Wicke Ready to Defend Quick 32 Sportsman Series Title

STRATFORD, ONTARIO – The K&K Race Team won the inaugural Quick 32 Sportsman Championship Point Award Series in 2009 and the Champions are anxious to defend their title in 2010.
 
With a very successful initial season, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will continue to be one of Canada’s most competitive drag racing series.  There will be more teams and quicker fields, but the guys at K&K are up to the challenge.
 
Consistency was the key for the K&K Team and their Dodge Stratus in 2009 and they are looking for more of the same in 2010.
 
“We had a pretty good season but we definitely had a few breaks last year,” said team driver Kevin Wicke. “This year will be a much tougher Championship Point Award Series chase, and there will be more quality teams in the points.”

Bill Moloughney signs on with Quick 32 Sportsman Series

SHAWVILLE, QUEBEC (March 24, 2010) – After a trip to the Grand Bend Motorplex last year, Bill Moloughney wanted to step up his racing and decided to join up with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
 
“I decided I wanted to run with the big boys,” said Moloughney, who will race in the Series’ Top Dragster class. 
 
“I bought the dragster last year, and raced locally around here,” he continued. “But Jamie Bridge (another Quick 32 Sportsman Series competitor) talked about this, and I decided I wanted to be in with the competition.”

Hinbest Racing Releases New Racing Video

ORANGEVILLE, ONTARIO (December 22, 2009) – Hinbest Racing, www.HinbestRacing.com, one of the teams that competed in the new Quick 32 Sportsman Series, has released a video to explain not only what the sport entails, but what the Hinbest team brought to the series.
 
“Our team message is an important one, we were trying to find a way to show people who knew nothing about drag racing what we do and who we are”, said team driver Michael Hinbest. “The result was having a team video produced, and the Hinbest Racing camp was busy racing and filming the last race weekend at Cayuga September 19-20.”
