Fans can Vote 4 Rodger Brogdon for the K&N Horsepower Challenge

ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon deserves to be in the K&N Horsepower Challenge, and NHRA fans can Roger Brogdongive him that chance at www.vote4rodger.com.

The K&N Horsepower Challenge is a special race within a race for the elite of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock class. The top seven racers earned their way in based on qualifying points since the K&N Challenge last year, and the eighth spot is awarded through a vote by NHRA fans.

Brogdon deserves to be the eighth driver because he finished in the top 10 in the Pro Stock points standings last season, winning his first career race in Bristol, Tenn., in the process, and of the drivers eligible for the fan vote, Brogdon is the highest-ranked.

Fans can go to www.vote4rodger.com to vote Brogdon into the Challenge, as well as find other information about the race. Voting continues through March 16, the final day of the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. Brogdon will have special #VoteRodger decals available for fans at the Gatornationals.

Brogdon falls in close first-round match in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – Rodger Brogdon and his ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro took V. Gaines to the edge in their first-round matchup at the Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

But Brogdon came up about 9 feet short in a battle between the No. 8 qualifier (Gaines) and the No. 9 qualifier (Brogdon).

“Dadgum, that was close,” Brogdon said. “I was right there with him all the way down the track, but I knew he was just a little bit out there on us. That’s how Pro Stock is these days.”

A consistent car has Brogdon optimistic about Sunday eliminations

PHOENIX, AZ – A fast, consistent ProtectTheHarvest.com Chevrolet Camaro has Rodger Brogdon ready for V. Gaines in the first round of the Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

“The question is, is he ready for me?” Brogdon asked with a chuckle. “No, we’ll be ready. It’ll be a good race. He went a little quicker than us in Q4, but we’ll be all right. We’ll be fine.”

Brogdon made four qualifying passes within .012-second of each other and will start eliminations from the No. 9 position with a best lap of 6.573 seconds at 209.98 mph.

Brogdon hopes for big weekend from ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro

PHOENIX, AZ – Rodger Brogdon is looking for big things from his ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock team in 2014, and the Roger BrogdenCarquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals this weekend at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park could be a sign of things to come.

Brogdon qualified No. 9 at the season-opener in Pomona, Calif., and though he lost in the first round there, he sees plenty of potential in his Chevrolet Camaro.

“We’re happy with the start to the season,” Brogdon said. “We haven’t made what we call a decent run, but we still went 6.541 in Pomona. The round I lost to Jeggie (Jeg Coughlin Jr.), I was going to go a low .54 or even a high .53, so it’s real promising.”

Pomona shows promise for ProtectTheHarvest.com’s Rodger Brogdon

POMONA, CA – It may only be the first race of the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, but Protect The HarvestProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon is already focused on winning the championship.

With a first round match-up against No. 8 qualifier and defending Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr., pressure was on Brogdon at the start for his Chevy Camaro to pull off the upset at the Circle K Winternationals on Sunday at Auto Club Raceway.

Brogdon, the No. 9 qualifier, gave Coughlin a run for his money, having him beat at the 300-foot mark. But Brogdon came up short at the finish line after his car began to slide to the right, and he had to get out of the throttle to keep it off the wall.

Brogdon wants more out of ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro

POMONA, CA – Rodger Brogdon’s ProtectTheHarvest.com Chevrolet ran two identical passes and another within six-thousandths Brogden - Pomonaof a second during qualifying for the Circle K NHRA Winternationals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, but despite that consistency Brogdon wants more and believes there is more in his Camaro.

“There’s still a lot in that car,” Brogdon said. “We had so many issues in testing that to get that consistent I should be happy. We’ve got a good two-hundredths we can still get out of it. We’ll go out there tomorrow and do our best.”

Brogdon snared the No. 9 qualifying spot with a top pass of 6.541 seconds at 211.79 mph. He had one other 6.541-second run and one of 6.547 seconds.

Brogdon and his Chevrolet Camaro team will start their assault on the Pro Stock championship at the Circle K NHRA Winternationals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona.

“That’s one thing they’ll never change, starting the season in Pomona, and we know the nonsense stops with the first race,” Brogdon said. “You never know what people are really doing during testing, but after Q4 is over in Pomona you know where you are.”
