Race Wrap for 14th Annual Ross Racing Pistons NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem in Bradenton, Florida
Santa Ana, CA – It was an Xtreme weekend at the NMCA season opener at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida as 
the 2016 drag racing season kicked off with new classes, record-setting performances, and more.
The fastest class on the property saw significant changes over the winter, with the new VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod racing an eighth-mile distance, and attracting over 20 cars to compete. Tinley Park, Illinois’ Randy Adler put his ’57 Chevy Pro Mod on the top of the qualifying sheet with a 3.80, and he would wade through the field to meet Raymond Commisso of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The two supercharged cars lined up and at the hit, Adler’s Chevy broke traction, allowing Commisso to streak to the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle.
In Mickey Thompson Radial Wars, it was Keith Berry that laid down the first 3-second pass (3.89) in the class’ history during Friday night’s first qualifying session. The rest of the field wasn’t far behind with the next three cars logging 4.0-second runs. Berry fell to DeWayne Mills in the semifinals, where Daniel Pharris had a bye run. As the air began to cool, the setting was ripe for quick times and we were in for a show. Pharris got off the line first and the holeshot would pay off as he took the win with a 3.99 to Mills’ quicker 3.97.

Santa Ana, CA – The 2016 NMRA Keystone Automotive drag racing season broke out in an all-out slugfest at 
Bradenton Motorsports Park during the opening weekend of March. The 22nd Annual Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout presented by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords is the first of six races for the all-Ford series. As the rest of the country dug out from snowstorms and battled against the cold, NMRA racers began chasing their championship dreams and the glory that that comes along with it. NMRA FL 2016 winners
The VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw class saw Dwayne Barbaree and Russell Stone push their Kuntz and Company-powered 1990 Mustang LX coupe into the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle with a win over newcomer Vince Palazzolo. The number-one qualifier found himself in a pedal-fest against Palazzolo-of which Barbaree won out with a 5.14 at 154 mph, far off his quickest run of 4.39 during qualifying. The Edelbrock Renegade finals came down to the two most dominant racers from 2015, Frank Varela and Alton Clements. The supercharged coupe of Clements ran 7.64 at 181 mph to Hellion Racing B-Team’s Varela, who had gone 7.78 at 177 mph.

The NMCA WEST brings all levels of racecars from mild to wild. The Pro Mod class includes wild, extremely fast racecars that are capable of 200 mph in the eighth-mile. ProCharger Limited Street brings on the turbocharged, nitrous-powered wheels up doorslammers with over 2,000 horsepower under the hood. If that’s not enough, there’s Meziere Top Sportsman, ARP Outlaw 8.5, Lucas Oil N/A 10.5 and MMR Mustang Madness! engines during three of their most popular events in 2016. With major support from SVTperformance.com, the Livernois Motorsports EcoBoost Battle will be part of the 22nd Annual Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout in Bradenton, Florida on March 3-6, the 13th Annual NMRA Ford SuperNationals in Hebron, Ohio on June 9-12 and finally in Bowling Green, Kentucky during the epic 18th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA All-Ford World Finals from September 29 to October 2, 2016.

NMRA Announces New Index Class for 2016
Santa Ana, CA – The NMRA Competition Department is proud to announce a new index class for the 2016 season. 
With a working title of “Ford Muscle”, this new championship class will debut at the season opener in Bradenton, Florida on March 3-6 at the 22nd Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout presented by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine.
NMRA National Event Director Rollie Miller said, “This new class will be part of the national NMRA championship series. Ford Muscle is a new foot-brake only index class for 1955 and later Ford vehicles on a .500 full tree off indexes from 9.50 to 14.50.”
