It is official: winter is gone with the start of drag racing at the Grand Bend Motorplex
Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series are making last minute preparations for the 2014 opener.
This year the three series will kick off their seasons at the Grand Bend Motorplex for the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil MAYHEM at the BEND Presented By Mickey Thompson Tires May 16-18.
It has been a long cold winter and we are getting ready for the opener, stated Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all three series. Everyone has had enough of the winter and can’t wait to get on the track May 16.
Roth Racing Team back for their ninth year of PMRA Pro Modified drag racing
KITCHENER, ON – Although he is relatively young at 33, Jeff Roth has been racing since he was eight, and drag racing since he was
16. He has also raced Pro Modified for the past eight years, and said he has seen lots of changes in the class.
These cars have gotten more and more aggressive over the years, he said, as well as the technology. A driver has had to adapt to these changes.
And the driver of the 1941 Willys Pro Modified believes he has adapted, adding he will continue to learn as he takes the Roth Racing entry into the upcoming season of the Pro Modified Racing Association.
Champions return for 2014 drag racing season opener at Grand Bend

This will be the first event on the calendar for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series as the three series take to the track at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
We’re excited to be opening our season at the Grand Bend Motorplex, and be a part of the track’s RPM/Lucas Oil Extreme Event, said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS. We have a great working relationship with Grand Bend. Our teams have been preparing for opening day all winter and will be ready to race.

Auto Meter Products returns to PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series for 2014
Sycamore, Illinois (April 29, 2014) – One of the world’s largest and most popular names in motorsport instrumentation will be
returning to the Pro Modified Racing Association and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series as a contingency sponsor for 2014.
Auto Meter Products, manufacturers of a wide range of automotive and racing instruments, will provide contingency awards for both drag race series at all events for the upcoming season.
Auto Meter has been a part of the popular drag race series since 2006. This year the PMRA will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will begin its sixth year of operation.
Bob Nagy returns to Pro Modified racing with new Corvette
WELLAND, ON – After several years, Bob Nagy is getting back behind the wheel of a Pro Modified.
The Welland, Ontario native will take to the track this season in Pro Modified Racing Association competition with a new 2014 Corvette Pro Modified, just finished in time for the season opener.
We will definitely be ready for Grand Bend, noted Nagy, who has drag raced since 1965. I want to get out with the car now for some testing and a feel for things.
While he may be a PMRA rookie, Nagy is no stranger to the class. He started in Pro Modified when it was in its infancy in 1993 with a 1991 Corvette, touring the tracks with the likes of Mike Janis and the Grainy Brothers. His car was one of the first in the class to be supercharged, and he was the first to hit the magical 200-mph mark with an automatic transmission during this time.
Paolo Giust hoping for good season with PMRA Pro Modified in 2014
OSGOODE, ON – Although the season has yet to start with the Pro Modified Racing Association for 2014, competitor Paolo Giust
has been busy racing his Pro Modified with over 20 runs to his credit.
Giust has been Stateside with his 1963 Corvette Pro Modified for testing and racing, and said he is very pleased with his new set-up.
We have got a new MSR (Mike Stawicki Racing) combination, he said. Everything with the engine is new except the blower, and we are happy with things so far.
Entering his third year of PMRA racing, Giust has raced for about 10 years. After racing a Top Dragster in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, the Osgoode, Ontario racer purchased his Pro Mod and has been learning and updating since.

CAYUGA, ON – Radio communication is an essential tool during race weekends, as officials must keep in constant touch to ensure
proper and safe operations.
