Points Leader Montesano ready for a win in PMRA drag racing

MAPLE, ON – Pro Modified Racing Association driver Vito Montesano is hoping he can put it all together for the next
PMRA race at the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts August 4-7 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
Montesano presently leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport with 817 points. He has qualified number one at all events so far this year with his supercharged ERD-powered 1969 Camaro Pro Modified, and has set a fast time of 5.889-seconds down the quarter mile.
“What’s my plan for this weekend? It’s to stay at the top,” he said. “I’d like to set a big number and keep it.”
The Stratford Days Event retains its local roots after 17 years

STRATFORD, ON – The drag race series known fondly as “The Stratford Days” began as collaboration between racers and businesses in this Southwestern Ontario community to promote the sport.
Offering free tickets through local merchants in the Stratford area, the Stratford Days race has brought a lot of fans into the stands for the annual event, and this year’s program, the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts at the Grand Bend Motorplex August 4-7 will be its 17th anniversary.
While many of the 500-plus competitors are from areas other than Stratford, including the rest of Ontario, Quebec, and the states of New York and Michigan, there is a strong Stratford-area contingent which makes up a large part of the event.

STRATFORD, ON – The tradition continues. For the past 16 years, the weekend of drag racing fondly known as “The Stratford Days” will continue with the August 4-7 running of the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts Grand Bend Motorplex.
This popular event started at St. Thomas Dragway in 1996 with a group of local Southwestern Ontario racers joining up with local businesses to promote a day at the track. The event has blossomed over the years, with solid support from the business community and more than 500 cars taking part in the quarter-mile racing.
PMRA team wins Pro Modified Invitational during national drag race event at the Grand Bend Motorplex
The Pro Modified Racing Association regular competed with several other teams in the event’s Pro Modified Invitational, and the Tonawanda, New York driver won an IHRA Iron Man for his efforts, his second such title in 16 years.
“This has been a great win for us,” said Grainy after the win. “We are very happy to win, and we were proud to be a part of the PMRA at this race.
A veteran Pro Modified team, driver Jack and crew chief Sonny have competed for many years, and was one of the initial teams when the PMRA began in 2004.
Large car counts expected in round four of PMRA, PBSS and Quick 32 Series

CAYUGA, ON – With three events completed so far this season, the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32
Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series head west to the Grand Bend Motorplex for the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts.
This three-day event, to be held August 5-7, will be the fourth race in the six-race tour for each of the three series, and the first trip to Grand Bend for 2011.
Known as the “Stratford Days,” this event is very popular with the competitors, and large car counts are expected. This will be the 17th running of the event. Once again NAPA Auto Parts will be providing free tickets to the event through their stores.
Kenny Lang wins PMRA Pro Modified event during Canadian Nitro Nationals

CAYUGA, ON – He only came to test out some new equipment, but Pro Modified racer Kenny Lang ended up winning the
Pro Modified Racing Association race during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
The event was the third in the 2011 PMRA schedule.
And the win was not only Lang’s first in PMRA competition, it was his first in the Pro Modified series.
“We had a good day,” Lang said after his win. “We just came here to test a new converter, started picking away, and stayed with our game plan.”

CAYUGA, ON – Round three in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike
& Sled Series was completed today, and each of the drag racing series produced new event winners.
The racing took place during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario over the holiday weekend.
Winning his first PMRA race was Kenny Lang. It was also the first PMRA race for the team from Grande Pointe, Manitoba. Lang, driving the Summit Racing Equipment 1969 Camaro, qualified fourth in the field, and bested Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario in his Corvette in the final for the win. Lang recorded a 6.035-second, 239.57-mph winning pass over Hawker.

CAYUGA, ON – The qualifying rounds in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and
the Pro Bike & Sled Series were completed Saturday during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
This is the third event for all the series in their 2011 six-race schedule.
Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario qualified his 1969 Camaro number one in the PMRA with a 5.907-second, 245.54-mph run. Close behind in second is Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, with a 5.959, 242.58 pass. Third is John Russo of Middletown, Massachusetts with a 6.005, 239.31. Kenny Lang of Grande Pointe, Manitoba is fourth, and Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario rounds out the top five.
Racing heats up at Toronto Motorsports Park July 1-3

CAYUGA, ON – Drag racing at its finest and in a variety of classes returns to the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park July 1-3.
The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series will make their third appearance for 2011 at the track’s Canadian Nitro Nationals in Cayuga, Ontario.
A different winner has been declared in each race so far this year in all the drag race series and teams will be ready for the continuous racing action when they take to the Cayuga quarter-mile this weekend.
Leading the PMRA Pro Modifieds in the Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport is Vito Montesano with the slimmest of margins. Montesano, of Maple, Ontario has 581 points, while three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland, of Hamilton, Ontario, who won the opening event, is next with 580 points. Third with 563 points is Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, who won the previous event.

series when they return to the track for round three at the Canadian Nitro Nationals July 1-3 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
Montesano, of Maple, Ontario, leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport, followed by Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, and Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario. Round one in the PMRA Pro Modifieds went to Boland, and Latino won the second event.
Top Sportsman racer Sampson, of Granton, Ontario, holds the lead in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings over Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ontario with his Top Sportsman entry, and Top Dragster driver Michael Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario. Sampson was victorious in the first race of Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, and Grubb won the second event.
