Harris, Scriba, Riddle, Powers, Franklin Denton and Whetstine Collect PDRA DragWars Victories  

BENSON, NC – Reigning Pro Boost world champion Jason Harris took over the points lead in WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive Saturday night when he earned his second consecutive win of the season. In a side-by-side 3.62-second final round against Todd “King Tut” Tutterow, Harris turned on the win light by five thousandths of a second to claim the ProFabrication PDRA DragWars presented by PST Driveshafts event win. It was a rematch of the final round at the 2024 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series season opener at GALOT Motorsports Park, as well as the first GALOT win for the Pittsboro, North Carolina, native.

Fredy Scriba earned his first career Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous win, taking over the points lead in the process. Reigning Menscer Motorsports Pro Street presented by Afco Racing world champion Bill Riddle collected his first event win of the season. Chris Powers, the 2021 Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock presented by AED Competition world champion, won to pad his points lead. Past PDRA Pro 632 world champion Amber Franklin Denton secured the 2024 world championship while also winning the event. Halsey, Harris, Huffman, Franklin Denton, Kincaid and Whetstine Earn No. 1 Qualifier Honors at PDRA DragWars

BENSON, NC – Four-time Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous world champion Jim Halsey raced to his sixth No. 1 qualifier award of the 2024 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series season Friday night at the ProFabrication PDRA DragWars presented by PST Driveshafts at GALOT Motorsports Park. A mechanical failure in the final qualifying session led to a frightening crash for the nitrous Pro Modified icon, though, taking him out of competition for the weekend. Halsey, the points leader going into the seventh of eight races, was uninjured in the incident.

Defending WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive world champion Jason Harris also qualified No. 1, along with Jeremy Huffman in Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock presented by AED Competition, Amber Franklin Denton in PDRA Pro 632, Scott Kincaid in Menscer Motorsports Pro Street presented by Afco Racing, and Dan Whetstine in Afco Racing Super Street presented by Menscer Motorsports.

PDRA Returns to GALOT for DragWars with Championship Battles Raging

BENSON, NC – It’s been just over one month since the last stop on the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series tour, so the professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster racers of the PDRA are eager to get back on track this weekend at the ProFabrication DragWars presented by PST Driveshafts, Oct. 3-5, at GALOT Motorsports Park. It’s the second GALOT race of the season, and as the penultimate race on the eight-race 2024 PDRA schedule, DragWars is a pivotal point in the battle for world championships.

“It’s always fun to start the season at GALOT, but this fall race is a whole different ballgame,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “If you’re racing for a PDRA world championship, you need to do well at this race. Side-by-side racing all season long has resulted in some tense championship battles, and they’ll only get more tense this weekend. From here on out, every round is a big one. We’ve also seen a lot of first-time winners this season, and we’ll probably see more of that at DragWars. It’s going to be exciting to watch things unfold at GALOT.”

Aside from Drag 965 Pro Extreme Motorcycle, all of PDRA’s professional categories will be in competition this weekend, as well as five sportsman classes and two Jr. Dragster classes. Continue reading

Harris, T. Franklin, Stewart, A. Franklin, Grothus, E. Steding and McGee Earn First Bristol Wins at Inaugural PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown

BRISTOL, TN – Reigning PDRA Pro Boost world champion Jason Harris returned to the FuelTech Winner’s Circle for the first time this season at the inaugural PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown Saturday night at Bristol Dragway. In a side-by-side WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive final round against Johnny Camp, Harris laid down a 3.643-second pass at 205.94 MPH to defeat Camp and his 3.663 at 203.68 at the sixth of eight races on the 2024 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series tour.

For the second time this season, three-time and reigning Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous world champion Tommy Franklin doubled up with his daughter, Amber Franklin, who won in PDRA Pro 632. Harris and the Franklins were joined by professional class winners Daryl Stewart in Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock presented by AED Competition, Brunson Grothus in Drag 965 Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Ethan Steding in Menscer Motorsports Pro Street presented by Afco Racing, and Connor McGee in Afco Racing Super Street presented by Menscer Motorsports.

In the sportsman categories, Dewayne Silance (MagnaFuel Elite Top Sportsman presented by PAR Racing Engines), Michael White (Laris Motorsports Insurance Elite Top Dragster presented by Greenbrier Excavating & Paving), Mark Reese (MagnaFuel Top Sportsman presented by Corbin’s RV), and Nick Meloni (Laris Motorsports Insurance Top Dragster presented by Younce RV) also walked away with Bristol trophies. Competing at the sixth of eight races on the 2024 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series tour, Halsey posted a 3.692-second blast to qualify No. 1 in Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous, while Tutterow threw down a 3.63-second pass to top the field in WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting & Ty-Drive.

Along with the headlining Pro Mod categories, the Thunder Valley Throwdown also features the PDRA’s five other heads-up professional classes. Red Line Oil PDRA Series Set For Bristol Debut at Thunder Valley Throwdown

BRISTOL, TN – For the first time in the 10-year history of the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series, the all-eighth-mile series will head to Tennessee’s Bristol Dragway this weekend for the Thunder Valley Throwdown. Set for Aug. 22-24, the Thunder Valley Throwdown is the sixth of eight championship events on the 2024 PDRA schedule. All 14 of the PDRA’s professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster divisions will be in competition at the legendary track known as “Thunder Valley.”

“Everyone in the series has been excited about our first trip to Bristol Dragway since the Thunder Valley Throwdown was first announced,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “This is such a historic, prestigious facility, especially when you think about the history of Pro Modified racing and the role this track played in it. Legends were made in Thunder Valley, and this weekend, 14 PDRA class winners will add their names to the Bristol Dragway history books.”

The two most successful drivers in the history of Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous, Jim Halsey and Tommy Franklin, have been trading the points lead back and forth this season. After reaching the final round at the most recent race on tour, the Northern Nationals in Martin, Michigan, Halsey reclaimed the lead in his Fulton-powered “Daddy Shark” ’68 Camaro. The four-time world champion also has two wins on the season. Franklin, the three-time and defending world champion, has a win and a runner-up in his Musi-powered “Jungle Rat” ’69 Camaro to sit second. Fredy Scriba, winner of the Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars specialty race, is third due to consistent late-round finishes in his Musi-powered “Sorcerer” ’69 Camaro. Continue reading

Camp, Slone, Powers, Melnick and Weddle Take Home PDRA Northern Nationals Trophies

MARTIN, MI – Racing in front of a packed house at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, Johnny Camp charged to his first WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive event win in over two years Saturday evening at the PDRA Northern Nationals presented by Talbert Manufacturing. Held in conjunction with the track’s 23rd Northern Nationals presented by Gun Lake Casino, the fifth of eight races on the 2024 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series tour saw a mix of first-time winners and world champions park their hot rods in the FuelTech Winner’s Circle.

Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous crowned a first-time winner in Michigan’s own Jackie Slone Jr., while Brian Weddle also picked up his first career win in Menscer Motorsports Pro Street presented by Afco Racing. Past Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock presented by AED Competition world champion Chris Powers picked up his first win in over a year, and reigning PDRA Pro 632 world champion Jeff Melnick earned a second consecutive Northern Nationals win.

Franklin Father-Daughter Duo, Tutterow, Morton and Agostino Top Rain-Shortened Qualifying at PDRA Northern Nationals

MARTIN, MI – Despite multiple rain showers, the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series completed two qualifying sessions on Friday at the Northern Nationals presented by Talbert Manufacturing. The father-daughter duo of Tommy and Amber Franklin qualified No. 1 in Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous and PDRA Pro 632, respectively, to highlight the top performers of the day, which also saw several nitro-fueled race cars make passes to prepare for U.S. 131 Motorsports Park’s 23rd Northern Nationals presented by Gun Lake Casino on Saturday.

The qualifying fields were set in the professional and sportsman classes after two of three scheduled qualifying sessions. The other pro No. 1 qualifiers were Todd Tutterow in WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive, Elijah Morton in Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock presented by AED Competition, and Nick Agostino in Menscer Motorsports Pro Street presented by Afco Racing.

PDRA Stars to Join Nitro-Fueled, Flame-Throwing Show at U.S. 131 Northern Nationals

MARTIN, MI – For the second consecutive year, the stars of the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series will take part in one of the most anticipated drag racing events in the Midwest. The PDRA Northern Nationals presented by Talbert Manufacturing, Aug. 1-3, will once again join forces with U.S. 131 Motorsports Park’s 23rd Northern Nationals presented by Gun Lake Casino. Along with the PDRA’s numerous professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster categories, the race weekend will feature modern Top Fuel dragsters, nostalgia front-engine Top Fuel, nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, a Fuel Altered, jet cars and more.
