Pat Musi Racing Engines Seeking Experienced Engine Assembler to Join Growing Team
MOORESVILLE, NC — Pat Musi Racing Engines has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled engine builder to join the team
at its state-of-the-art facility in Mooresville, NC.
The candidate must have experience in engine assembly and block work, including honing and boring, but Pat Musi emphasized the position will include multiple tasks.
The candidate would work under Robert Hallberg, who is the head assembler at the shop and has worked with Musi for 40 years. He’s regarded as one of the most experienced assemblers in the industry, giving the potential employee an opportunity to thrive at one of the top engine-building companies in the sport.
“This is a great chance for somebody to get involved with a shop that continues to grow,” Musi said. “We’ve got a successful team here and it’s a good group of people. Nobody has any egos and we work with the best people in the country. It’s shaping up to be a big 2021 and this is a unique opportunity, and because we’re so busy we definitely need someone who can hit the ground running.”
Pat Musi Racing Engines Debuts New 959 Cubic Inch Engine Featuring 12.6 Deck Height
MOORESVILLE, NC — The all-new 959 cubic inch monster from Pat Musi Racing Engines didn’t take long to show its potential. The latest
nitrous engine had an immediate and impressive showing at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals, with both Lizzy Musi and Dean Marinis running 3.61-seconds during the race.
It came after a few adjustments, including a new 12.6 inch deck height and new cylinder heads, but the results are extremely promising for an engine poised to deliver big power for racers next season.
“I think we’re really onto something with this engine,” Pat Musi said. “We moved the deck height and it seems to be a lot better. It’s just a better piece. Look, we’re always trying to improve and this seems to be really good. We’re pretty pleased with the results.”
The new 959 cubic inch Musi engine is now available for the upcoming season, with its performance in Bradenton providing just a glimpse of its capabilities.
Along with Marinis and Musi, J.R. Gray, who made a big splash in his Radial vs. the World debut earlier this fall, used his 959 engine to advance to the final round at the race, while RvW star Marcus Birt has turned in a tremendous 2020 season with a number of wins running the powerful engine.
Lizzy Musi to be Featured During Monday’s Street Outlaws: Fastest in America on Discovery
MOORESVILLE, NC — For those wanting to see plenty of Lizzy Musi in action on Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, Monday night is the
time.
The star racer and her Pat Musi Racing Engines-powered Edelbrock-equipped Lucas Oil “Aftershock” Camaro will be featured heavily during tonight’s episode on the Discovery channel. It premieres at 8 p.m. EST and includes Musi and Team NOLA competing against Team Iowa as both squads race for a shot at $300,000.
Filmed at an undisclosed concrete road in Wyoming earlier this summer, the series has been a huge hit with teams and drivers vying for the title of the “Fastest in America.” On Monday, Musi gets her first shot this season to showcase her talents to a national television audience.
“It’s the first time this season that our team is featured and we actually race, so we’re looking forward to it. It’s going to be an exciting episode,” Pat Musi said. “This series and the whole Street Outlaws deal is a whole other way to get drag racing out there and it’s doing a good job of it. There’s millions of viewers interested each week and tonight should be good.”
Musi Racing Seeks to End 2020 the Way It Began: With a Win in Bradenton
BRADENTON, FL — Lizzy Musi and Musi Racing started 2020 with a victory at Bradenton Motorsports Park, and now the team will have a
chance to finish the year with a win at the facility.
Musi will pilot the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart at this weekend’s 49th annual Snowbird Outlaw Nationals, as the team aims to end the season on a strong note.
“We won here in January and we always seem to run well here,” Pat Musi said. “We need to test some things on the car, too, because we didn’t get a chance to run it enough this year. We had such a busy schedule with the Street Outlaws filming, we weren’t able to run this car as much and there’s some stuff we want to try.”
While Musi will be testing a number of things on the nitrous-powered Dart, the team is also racing to win, hoping to replicate their win in Pro Mod at the U.S. Street Nationals back in January. Lizzy Musi impressed that weekend to earn the victory, but appearances in the Pro Nitrous car have been few and far between this year.
Construction Underway on New Musi Racing Facility
MOORESVILLE, NC — Musi Racing will soon have a new state-of-the-art home near Mooresville Dragway. The race team broke ground in
September on their new 9,000-square foot building located near the dragstrip and construction has progressed quickly since then. The scheduled opening date for the building is slated for early 2021.
The new building will be the race shop for the Musi Racing cars, which include the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart and the Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro, both driven by Street Outlaws star Lizzy Musi. Customer cars will also be kept at the new facility as they come through, while Pat Musi Racing Engines will remain in its current 10,000-square foot building near downtown Mooresville.
The two shops will be within ten minutes of each other, giving Pat Musi easy access to both, and a world of opportunities with the new facility.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun and we’ve got a lot of good ideas for this building. There’s definitely a lot of excitement coming,” Pat Musi said. “We were really crunched for space and this new building gives us a great spot for the race team and to set up cars for customers. It’s all coming together really well.”
Pat Musi Racing Engines Open House Postponed
MOORESVILLE, NC — Taking an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19 exposure at its facility, Pat Musi Racing Engines has postponed
its open house, which was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 14.
The event, which will celebrate the company’s 50th year in business as well as another banner racing season, will be postponed to a later date. It was a disappointing decision for Pat Musi, but taking extra precautions and ensuring the safety of everyone during the ongoing public health crisis remained his first priority.
“It’s obviously frustrating to postpone this event. We had put a lot of time and effort into it, and we were really looking forward to interacting with all the fans and our partners,” Musi said. “But the health and safety of our team, as well as everyone who had planned on coming, takes precedence. It’s been a challenging year, but we’ll keep pushing forward and we look forward to having a great event in the near future.”
The open house will allow for fans to talk with Musi and his team, along with star driver Lizzy Musi, who will be on hand for autographs. Her Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro from the popular Street Outlaws television series and the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart will both be on display as well during the celebratory open house.
Pat Musi Racing Engines Celebrating 50th Anniversary with Open House on November 14
MOORESVILLE, NC — Pat Musi Racing Engines will celebrate another banner season and its 50th year in business with an open house at its
facility, located at 379-B Timber Road in Mooresville, NC, on November 14. The open house will take place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and will follow all COVID-19 guidelines from the state health department.
The event marks a thrilling opportunity for fans to talk with Musi and his team, and star driver Lizzy Musi will also be on hand for autographs. Her Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro from the popular Street Outlaws television series and the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart will both be on display as well during the celebratory open house.
“We’ve got a lot to show off, including a brand new race shop near Mooresville Dragway, and it’s a chance to give people an idea of what we do,” Musi said. “We wanted to do something like this to celebrate our 50th year, and it’s going to be a good deal all the way around. Plus, Lizzy will be here, so it will give fans a chance to see her. It’s going to be pretty cool and we’re looking forward to it.”
Musi Racing Aiming to End Season in Style at PDRA World Finals
DINWIDDIE, VA — Musi Racing hasn’t had many opportunities to run the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018
Dodge Dart during the second half of the 2020 season, which is why the team is looking forward to this weekend’s PDRA World Finals at Virginia Motorsports Park.
It marks the season finale for the PDRA and the first Pro Nitrous race Lizzy Musi and her team have attended since June. Musi Racing spent the bulk of the summer in the Midwest filming the new season of the Street Outlaws TV series on Discovery, but the group is ready for a strong finish to end an interesting 2020 campaign.
“It’s good to be back in this car and Lizzy is excited about driving,” Pat Musi said. “You like to go out running well to end the year. We’ve struggled at the last couple of races, but we’re getting there. This car has proven to be a little finicky, but it’s a lot faster in good air. We should have that, so that’s in our favor and I’m confident we’ll get it figured out.”
Musi raced at the COMP Cams Shakedown Nationals XVIII last month at VMP, but this marks the first PDRA race since early summer.
Smith’s Gatornationals Victory Marks Three Wins in Four Races for Pat Musi Racing Engines
GAINESVILLE, FL — The NHRA Pro Mod season simply continues to get better for Pat Musi Racing Engines, as longtime customer Rickie
Smith became the latest winner in the series.
Smith rolled to the win at the NHRA Gatornationals in his Musi-powered Chevrolet Camaro, beating Mike Janis in the final round with a run of 5.801-seconds at 249.63 MPH, giving the Pro Mod legend his 16th career victory in the class. It also gave Pat Musi Racing Engines its third win in four races during the 2020 NHRA Pro Mod season, with each victory coming from a different driver.
Smith joins a list that already includes Jonathan Gray and Chad Green, putting Pat Musi Racing Engines in a marquee position so far this year.
“It was really good to see Rickie come through, and these nitrous guys working with us are kicking everyone’s butts right now. That means more to me than anything,” Pat Musi said. “We’ve got three wins in four races in the NHRA, Tommy (Franklin) is leading the points in PDRA Pro Nitrous, so it’s all good. Rickie’s a really good racer and he had a great weekend. I couldn’t be happier about the way our customers are running.”
Musi Racing Returns to Pro Mod Action at Shakedown Nationals
DINWIDDIE, VA — For the first time in three months, the Frank Brandao-owned Edelbrock/Lucas Oil “King Kong 7” 2018 Dodge Dart will
be in action and the Musi Racing team couldn’t be happier.
Lizzy Musi will return behind the wheel of the record-breaking nitrous-assisted car for this weekend’s Shakedown Nationals XVIII at Virginia Motorsports Park, marking the car’s first on-track appearance since the PDRA Carolina Showdown at Darlington Dragway in mid-June.
A hectic summer schedule of filming for the Street Outlaws TV series on Discovery has kept the Musi Racing team busy, but the team has shifted its focus for this weekend and has big plans in the Pro Mod class.
“Lizzy’s excited, the whole team is excited and Frank is excited to see his car run,” Pat Musi said. “We know the car is fast and we feel good about going there. These cars are so on edge, but I think we’ve got something up our sleeve.”
Musi kept the exact details close to the vest, but the end goal — if the conditions present themselves — is to be the first big-tire nitrous Pro Mod to run in the 3.50s in the eighth-mile.
