Lizzy Musi Triumphant in the Return of ‘Bonnie,’ Wins Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ — Eight weeks after a harrowing top-end crash at Darlington Dragway, Lizzy Musi and the Musi Racing team pulled off an
incredible turnaround, winning the Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings event at Tucson Dragway.
With the event marking the return of the new nitrous-powered “Bonnie” Camaro that debuted earlier this year, it was a storybook finish for Musi and the team. She knocked off fiancé Kye Kelley in the final round, picking up her first win of the season in a triumphant story of perseverance.
“It’s been a whirlwind of a year,” Lizzy said. “From struggling with (the old car) ‘Aftershock,’ to figuring out the new car and then crashing the brand new car, it hasn’t been an easy season for us. A lot of blood, sweat and tears have been shed. To come out and win with a freshly rebuilt car and beat the fastest guys (in) No Prep Kings was a huge accomplishment.”
It was a total team effort from the moment the team got the car back following the crash. Robert Hayes rebuilt the car in just 45 days, an incredible feat that was backed up with an outstanding performance on the track.
‘Aftershock’ Returns for Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings in Cordova
MOORESVILLE, NC — A week after a terrifying top-end wreck in Darlington, Lizzy Musi and the Musi Racing team are determined to
rebound as quickly as possible. That means a short turnaround and the return of the Edelbrock-equipped Lucas Oil “Aftershock” Camaro for this weekend’s Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings race at Cordova International Raceway in Cordova, IL.
With the popular No Prep Kings tour returning just a week after Darlington to cap off a rigorous four-race stretch, Musi Racing had to quickly adjust following the wreck in the new ’69 Camaro known as “Bonnie,” which was making just its third appearance since debuting last month.
The new car is already back under the watchful eye of builder Robert Hayes with the intent of having it ready by the end of the month, but in the meantime that meant pivoting back to “Aftershock” for at least this weekend.
Lizzy Musi to Debut New ’69 Camaro at Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings in Epping
MOORESVILLE, NC — A plan that started more than a year ago will come to fruition as the Musi Racing team is set to debut its new
Edelbrock-equipped Lucas Oil ’69 Camaro at next weekend’s Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings stop at New England Dragway in Epping, NH.
Lizzy Musi will be behind the wheel of the new car, which was purpose-built for the wildly popular Street Outlaws series that airs on Discovery. The car was built by Robert Hayes Race Cars with close consultation from Pat Musi himself. It’s a major moment for the team, and there is a noticeable excitement level regarding the new car as the team heads to the fourth race of the 2021 Street Outlaws season.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind car and I don’t think there’s anything nicer around,” Pat Musi said. “The whole deal is killer. It looks like a street car, it’s all steel roof and quarters, and everything you can imagine has been covered on this car. This is Robert Hayes’ baby and something he’s been thinking about for more than a year. To see it come together a year later, it’s pretty cool.”
Lizzy Musi and Musi Racing Carry Momentum into Valdosta for Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings
CECIL, GA — Following a strong performance at the most recent Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings event, the Musi Racing team is thinking big
heading to this weekend’s race at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia.
Lizzy Musi drove the Edelbrock-equipped Lucas Oil “Aftershock” Camaro to the semifinals last weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida, putting the team in a strong position heading to the third race of the 2021 Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings season. After some struggles at the opening race earlier this month in Columbus, Ohio, the Musi Racing team made significant strides a week ago and that has them confident for Valdosta.
“We think we’ve got a car that can win,” Pat Musi said. “This car is coming around. We were struggling down low and we’ve got that fixed. I thought we could have won that deal last week, but we think we’ve got things figured out. We’ve always had power and Lizzy will be pretty tough to beat this weekend if we get everything figured out.”
Lizzy Musi and Musi Racing Set to Open 2021 Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings Season at National Trail Raceway
HEBRON, OH — The highly-anticipated 2021 Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings season begins this weekend and Lizzy Musi, the first female
driver to ever win in the popular series that is broadcast on Discovery, is ready.
The Musi Racing team heads to National Trail Raceway, just outside of Columbus, Ohio, to kick off the year, with Lizzy Musi behind the wheel of the Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro, with additional backing from Lucas Oil, Newell INX, ACL RACE Series Bearings, and many more. After the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team is eager to build on the success they enjoyed during Lizzy’s debut season in 2019.
Lizzy Musi not only became the first female to win, but she also became the first driver on the circuit to win three straight races.
“We’ve got a great combination on that car and Lizzy is going to be fast,” team owner and crew chief Pat Musi said. “We’ve really had only one year in the No Prep Kings deal, and Lizzy was the first woman to win one and the first person to win three in a row, and now that car is 10 times the car it was. Jerry Bickel made it safe for her and the car is just bad ass.”

We’ll also have Robert Hayes continuing to work with us, and he’s always a huge help. I’ll be concentrating on what I do, those guys can do their job and if we all work together, we’re confident nobody can outrun us.”
ACL Renews Musi Racing Sponsorship, Continues as Official Supplier of Performance Engine Bearings of Pat Musi Racing Engines
MOORESVILLE, NC — After a successful first-year partnership, ACL Bearings and its ACL RACE Series Performance Engine Bearings are
set to be the Official Engine Bearing of Pat Musi Racing Engines for a second straight year.
The sponsorship marked ACL’s first major drag racing sponsorship and it proved to be a rewarding one for both parties, as the custom engine bearing Pat Musi and his team designed and engineered for his applications were a success.
It strengthened an already great relationship and Musi is excited for what the future holds between the two companies.
“We’ve developed several products with them over the years and we’re working on developing some new things with them as well. We’re happy with them and they’re happy with us, so it’s working out great,” Musi said.
“They’ve got a really good engineering group and it’s a company full of good people. They’ve been a great group to work with.”

Newell INX and its Newell Wash Mitt was created by owner David Newell, offering a unique and top-quality product that has undergone extensive testing.

Partnership with Pat Musi Racing Engines and Musi Racing for 2021
MOORESVILLE, NC — A longtime relationship between Pat Musi Racing Engines and Lucas Oil shows no signs of slowing down, as the two
companies announced their partnership will continue for the 2021 racing season.
Lucas Oil will also sponsor Lizzy Musi and the Musi Racing team this season, and the partnership will also continue in the engine shop for Pat Musi Racing Engines. It has been the company’s lubricant of choice for more than a decade, helping deliver standout results and an impressive championship resume for Pat Musi Racing Engines.
“We’ve been with them for more than ten years, and I hope to work with Lucas Oil for at least another ten years,” Pat Musi said. “It’s turned into a great sponsorship and something we’re really proud of, and I’m excited to see what we can do together this year.”
On the dragstrip, Lizzy Musi has become a top name in sport, putting together a number of strong runs in the Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings circuit. She jumped onto the scene a year ago, piloting the Musi 959-powered “Aftershock” Camaro to three victories in the series.
Musi Racing and Pat Musi Racing Engines Renew Longtime Partnership with Edelbrock for 2021
MOORESVILLE, NC — With a relationship that has spanned more than two decades, Pat Musi Racing Engines and Edelbrock, a leading
manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket performance parts, have formed a lasting partnership that has been pivotal for both companies.
That relationship will extend into 2021 as well, as Pat Musi Racing Engines and Musi Racing today announced a continuing partnership with Edelbrock for the upcoming racing season. Edelbrock will again support the Musi Racing team and driver Lizzy Musi, who will pilot the Edelbrock-equipped “Aftershock” Camaro on the Street Outlaws circuit.
Edelbrock and Pat Musi Racing Engines will continue their long-lasting partnership as well, building on the collaborative Edelbrock/Musi product line that was released in 2019.
“I became a consultant with Edelbrock in 2000 and more than 20 years later, it’s really turned into a big deal for both of us,” Pat Musi said. “It’s led to even bigger opportunities and an even bigger relationship, and it says a lot to have worked together for more than two decades. We’ve worked hand-in-hand developing products with Edelbrock. A decal on a car just doesn’t do it anymore. You have to work together, and that’s what we have with Edelbrock.”
