Haney Earns NHRA License, Prepares for NHRA Pro Mod Debut

TULSA, OK – After more than three decades in drag racing, Tulsa businessman Keith Haney is ready to step onto the biggest stage of his career. This weekend (May 18-20), Haney will make his NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Series debut during the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, KS.

Haney will drive a 2015 Summit Racing Camaro owned by three-time NHRA Pro Mod World Champion Rickie Smith, with its nitrous-assisted, Pat Musi-built powerplant tuned by Brandon Switzer. He also plans additional NHRA Pro Mod appearances in September at St. Louis and the following month in Dallas, TX.

“I couldn’t be any more excited about this,” Haney declared. “To have Summit Racing Equipment on my side and driving for Rickie Smith and Brandon Switzer, well, I really couldn’t ask for anything better. And this is the exact same car Rickie won with earlier this year down in Gainesville (FL), so it’s a proven winner—just like I am.”

Haney Hoping for Strong Showing at Throw Down in T-Town

TULSA, OK – After enduring a challenging weekend with the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) late last month in Bowling Green, KY, Keith Haney is looking forward to attending Throw Down in T-Town (May 11-12), at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, his hometown track in Tulsa.

“It’s always good to go home,” said Haney, who co-owns the historic drag racing venue with fellow MWPMS competitor Todd Martin. “But especially when we have to get back to doing what we do best, which is draggin’ asses and winning races.”

Haney explained his Keith Haney Racing team was short-handed in Kentucky with only three team members joining him and crew chief Brandon Pesz at Beech Bend Raceway Park, while co-crew chief Brandon Switzer called in his tune-up from Charlotte due to prior commitments.

“It definitely made it challenging running two cars with half my crew, but that’s not really what bit us in the end,” he added. “More than anything we were the victim of parts failure.”

Haney Headed for NHRA Pro Mod with Summit Racing on His Side

TULSA, OK – Several giants of the sport are teaming up as Summit Racing Equipment has signed on as primary sponsor for Keith Haney Racing to enter the NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Series at three national events this season.

Driving a nitrous-boosted 2015 Summit Racing Camaro owned by three-time NHRA Pro Mod World Champion Rickie Smith and tuned by Brandon Switzer, Haney will make his NHRA Pro Mod debut next month (May 18-20) at Topeka, KS, with additional outings in September at St. Louis and the following month in Dallas, TX.

“The deal came together pretty quickly after I met Keith down at the Mid-West Pro Mod race earlier this year in Dallas. We’ve been in Pro Mod a few times before and this is an opportunity to kind of get our feet back in the game for three races and have some fun,” Summit Racing Motorsports and Events Manager Jim Greenleaf explained.

“What I think is going to be really exciting is the fact that Keith will be showing up with a car and a team that can win right away. I also think he is going to be good for the class because he brings a competitiveness, a back-and-forth with some of the other drivers that’s sort of been missing from other forms of drag racing right now.”

Haney Wins Radial Revenge in Tulsa with Track Record Run

TULSA, OK – Veteran drag racer Keith Haney saved his best for last Mar. 31, during Radial Revenge Tour 2018 at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. Driving “Enigma,” his nitrous-boosted 2016 Camaro, Haney covered the eighth mile in 3.75 seconds at 197.86 mph to set a new track elapsed time record while leading stripe-to-stripe for the win over Tim Slavens in the Radial vs. the World final.

Slavens ran 3.78 at 212.26 in his twin-turbocharged ’69 Camaro for a close runner-up finish. The track ET record prior to the Radial Revenge event was 3.79 seconds, with Slavens and Haney trading it back-and-forth five times throughout qualifying and eliminations.

“Yeah, I treed him by over two hundredths (of a second) and never looked back; never saw him the whole way down,” said Haney, a local businessman who co-owns the Tulsa track with Todd Martin, as well as several new car dealerships in the Tulsa area. “It felt good and I knew it was on a good pass, too, but it wasn’t until I looked up and saw the scoreboard that I knew just how good. This was a big win for our team.

Haney Reaches Semis at Sweet 16

TULSA, OK – For veteran drag radial competitor Keith Haney of Broken Arrow, OK, a top-10 start plus a semi-finals finish added up to a successful outing Mar. 22-24, in promoter Donald “Duck” Long’s inaugural Sweet 16 event at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP).

With a then-career-best 3.74 at 200.74 mph, Haney qualified “Enigma,” his nitrous-boosted 2016 Camaro, 10th of 34 entries in the quickest and fastest Radial vs. the World (RvW) field ever assembled. Six drivers, led by eventual race winner Mark Micke, made unprecedented runs in the 3.60s to pace the field, which was going after a $101,000 winner-take-all prize fund.

“This was a great, great event. I applaud Donald on trying something a little different that turned out to be very cool and special,” Haney said of the event which featured two classes of racing, nine rounds of qualifying, and only 500 spectator ticket sales, though a live online feed shared the action with the masses. “I think the Sweet 16 overall is a great concept. It’s something just for the racers; it’s Donald just giving back to the guys that support his Lights Out and No Mercy events. He did a great job here.”

Haney Hints at Power Adder Change for South Georgia Sweet 16

VALDOSTA, GA – A month ago, when Keith Haney visited South Georgia Motorsports Park for Lights Out 9, he made it all the way to the final round, where he ran a career-best elapsed time and speed, but still finished runner-up in Radial vs. the World (RvW) to Steve Jackson. This weekend (Mar. 22-24), he and his Keith Haney Racing (KHR) team will be back at SGMP, where Haney plans to finish one position better in Donald “Duck” Long’s inaugural Sweet 16 event.

“All those other guys—and especially Stevie—they better watch themselves because KHR and ‘Enigma’ (the name for Haney’s 2016 RvW Camaro) are coming and the difference for us this time will be winning,” Haney stated as he prepared to make the long haul from his home near Tulsa.

“Well, there might be one more difference,” he added, “but people will just have to tune into the live feed to see what combination we’re showing up with. All I can tell you right now is it’ll be set on kill because there’s a lot at stake with $101,000 going to the winner. That’s the biggest purse ever for drag radial racing and I plan on it heading back to Oklahoma with me.”

Haney Happy with Lights Out 9 Results

VALDOSTA, GA – Straight out of the box after winning the Mid-West Pro Mod Series Radials vs. the World championship last fall, Keith Haney drove his nitrous-boosted 2016 Camaro to an impressive runner-up finish Feb. 18, at Lights Out 9, the biggest, most prestigious standalone drag radial race in the world. After qualifying eighth for the 32-car RvW field at South Georgia Motorsports Park, the Tulsa, OK-based new car dealer defeated four worthy rivals before coming up just a little short of Georgia’s own “Stevie Fast” Jackson.

“Amazing. To come out here and run like this and get to the finals when everybody said I wouldn’t, and make career-best runs in this car, well, it really couldn’t be much better,” Haney said shortly after covering the SGMP eighth mile in 3.77 seconds at 199.52 mph, compared to 3.74 at 199.67 for Jackson in the $50,000-to-win final round. “We didn’t do any testing before coming here. None whatsoever–and everybody knows it–so my team, I just couldn’t be any prouder of them.”

Haney Heads Home from No Mercy 8 for Double Duty at Throwdown in T-Town

TULSA, OK – Fresh off a second-round finish with his drag radial-equipped entry at No Mercy 8 in Valdosta, Georgia, veteran driver Keith Haney now has his sights set on returning home for Throwdown in T-Town at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. Haney, a local new car dealer who also co-owns the Tulsa drag strip with fellow racer Todd Martin, will compete this weekend (Oct. 13-14) in two cars entered in two distinct classes for the

Throwdown, which promises to be one of the biggest races nationwide this year.
With a 3.91-seconds pass at 197.36 mph over the eighth mile at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP), Haney qualified “Enigma,” his nitrous-oxide-boosted 2016 Camaro 19th for the event’s top-level, 32-car Radials vs. the World field.

“No excuses, but we were trying out a whole new setup and that put us a little behind in qualifying,” Haney explained. “Then, just before the final round of qualifying we realized we were nearly 150 pounds overweight with the car so we took more than a hundred pounds off, but didn’t compensate enough for it and the nose came up and stayed up and I had to get out of it and that’s what put us so far down the ladder.”

Keith Haney Racing enjoying dream season with “Notorious,” “Enigma”

TULSA, OK – Keith Haney is in the middle of a terrific season with his Keith Haney Racing team, a testament to the talented, hard-working crew members who support KHR’s “Notorious” and “Enigma” race cars. Notorious is the Lucas Oil/RacingJunk.com Chevrolet Camaro Pro Mod, while Enigma is KHR’s drag radial race car. Both have performed well this season, under the tuning of Brandon Pesz and Brandon Switzer.

KHR experienced a particularly strong race its last time out at Gateway Motorsports Park earlier this month. Enigma, driven by Pesz, won the Premier Street Car Association’s Radial vs. The World Class, while Haney and Notorious qualified No. 1 and reached the final round of the Mid-West Pro Mod Series.

Keith Haney Racing completed an “outstanding weekend” in the Throw Down in T-Town!

The Throw Down marked the first time both KHR Lucas Oil/RacingJunk.com Chevrolet Camaros raced in the same event.

“That was fun – and a lot of work,” Haney said. “Plus, we entertained our local fans. But it was absolutely outstanding weekend for Keith Haney Racing.”

Notorious qualified No. 1 in the Mid-West Pro Mod Series race with a pass of 3.756 seconds at 201.64 mph, while Enigma qualified No. 2 with a run of 3.914 seconds at 193.40 mph.

Haney won in the first and second round with Notorious, and then things got interesting.
