Keith Haney Closes Out 2022 Season with Runner-Up Finish in Pro Mod at MWDRS Xtreme Texas World Finals

TULSA, OK – Keith Haney accomplished his goal of finishing off the 2022 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season on a high note, as he raced to a runner-up finish in Stroud Safety Pro Mod at the Xtreme Texas World Finals at Xtreme Raceway Park. Haney in his nitrous-assisted “Black Mamba” Camaro left the starting line first in the final round, but came up short at the finish line with a 3.676-second pass at 204.36 MPH to Ron Muenks’ 3.618 at 208.62.

“It’s a good, positive start to 2023 that we’re already excited about getting started on, even though it’s not until March,” Haney said. “But it was a great team effort. Without the crew and my family there, we couldn’t have gotten to where we were. We had a lot of thrashing going on – changed motors and tore down a couple motors. My team – Dale Hancock, Shane Goodnight, Andy Hoffman, Steve Cooks, Brandon Switzer, Lil Bobby Savedra – they worked their butts off to get us to the finals. I drove good. I had good lights – a great light in the final, just didn’t have enough in it to get that .61.”

The No. 5 qualifier, Haney started race day with a 3.739 at 202.61 over Keith Goolsby, followed by a 3.713 at 203.16 over Tony Strachan’s 3.869. The Oklahoma native then used a holeshot advantage and 3.669 at 204.17 to defeat newly crowned champion Dustin Nesloney and his 3.673.

Keith Haney Ready to End 2022 Season on High Note at MWDRS Xtreme Texas World Finals

TULSA, OK – Keith Haney is quick to admit a driver error cost him and his Keith Haney Racing team an easy first-round win in Stroud Safety Pro Mod at the fall Throwdown in T-Town. Making up for that is one reason why Haney is fired up for the final race of the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season, the Xtreme Texas World Finals, Oct. 21-22, at Xtreme Raceway Park.

Haney qualified third at the Throwdown at Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park, the track he co-owns with fellow Pro Mod racer Todd Martin. He had a first-round bye, but Haney’s Musi-powered Summit Racing/Strange Engineering “Black Mamba” Camaro suffered a transmission issue in the final qualifying session that couldn’t be fixed for the opening round of eliminations.

“It was all my fault,” admitted Haney, who was the defending event champion. “Had nothing to do with the crew or anything. In Q3, for some reason I hit the line-lock button going down the racetrack, which slowed down the car and burned up the transmission. It should’ve been a 3.60-something. All driver error. I don’t know how I did it, but I did it. It is what it is. We tried to get it fixed. Had all the parts to fix it, just couldn’t get it fixed in time. So we had a bye, which we ultimately didn’t get to show up for. That’s how our race ended up.”

Keith Haney Eager to Defend Fall Throwdown in T-Town Pro Mod Title

TULSA, OK – As the defending event champion in Stroud Safety Pro Mod, Keith Haney is looking forward to getting back on track at the fall Throwdown in T-Town, Oct. 6-8, at Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park. It’s a double event as the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service also completes the MWDRS Great Bend Nationals, so Haney is hoping to gain some ground in the points chase.

“I’m looking forward to trying to win it again,” said Haney, who is the founder of MWDRS and co-owner of Tulsa Raceway Park. “I need to win Great Bend and I need to win Tulsa to get me right up there in the points. I need to go No. 1 and win.”

Haney is confident he has what it takes to turn on win lights this weekend. Along with that, he’s setting out to blow the scoreboards down with his Brandon Switzer-tuned, Bickel-built, Musi-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro.

“I’m hoping to break my own records,” Haney said. “The quickest we’ve been is 3.65 and that was earlier in the year at Xtreme [Raceway Park]. I’d like to see us go in the low .60s if we can, or at least some good, consistent mid-.60 runs. If we can do that, then we have a chance to win it.”

Keith Haney Looking to Get Back to Late-Round Finishes at MWDRS Martin

MARTIN, MI – Keith Haney has enjoyed the nearly three-month break on the 2022 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service schedule, but he’s ready to get back into the seat of his nitrous-fed “Black Mamba” Camaro at US 131 Motorsports Park this weekend, Sept. 9-10. Haney and his competitors in Stroud Safety Pro Mod will be taking part in the track’s 18th annual Honor Credit Union Funny Car Nationals.

“The fans are just amazing at Martin,” said Haney, who is the founder and owner of MWDRS and co-owner of Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park. “Jason Peterson and the US 131 team have their big jet show and Funny Car show this weekend. It’s kind of like a Throwdown [at T-Town in Tulsa]. You go to a Throwdown, it’s a packed house. You go to US 131, it’s a packed house. We’ve had a great crowd at a lot of races this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing more packed grandstands up in Michigan.”

Haney and the MWDRS last raced in mid-June, so they’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this weekend and the second half of the season. The Keith Haney Racing team, which includes tuner Brandon Switzer, Dale Hancock, Shane Goodnight, Steve Cooks, and Bobby Savedra, is hoping to go one round further than they did at this event in 2021.

Keith Haney Racing in Memory of Ronnie Hobbs at MWDRS Summer Speed Spectacular

MADISON, IL – As the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service heads to St. Louis this weekend, Stroud Safety Pro Mod driver Keith Haney is still mourning the loss of his late friend and competitor, Ronnie Hobbs. Haney is racing in memory of Hobbs at World Wide Technology Raceway’s Summer Speed & Fire Spectacular, the fifth race of the eight-race MWDRS season.

Haney was the next car in line to run behind Hobbs during a Friday night qualifying session at the MWDRS Great Bend Nationals two weeks ago when Hobbs lost his life in a top-end crash. Haney admits he’s struggled with the decision to race again so soon, but he believes it’s what Hobbs would’ve wanted.

“Is it going to be tough to strap in the car? Yeah,” said Haney, who’s also the founder and owner of the MWDRS. “I can tell you if I even thought about not racing, he would kick my butt. He loved racing and he would never want us to stop. So I’m going to strap back in that car and I’m gonna go racing. If I can win it for Ronnie, it’s going to be tough. We have a lot of tough competitors. But I’ll be running for Ronnie this weekend. He’ll be with me. If I win, I’m going to dedicate it to him. He was a good friend and a good person with a good family.”

Keith Haney Chasing More Win Lights at MWDRS Great Bend Nationals

GREAT BEND, KS – Keith Haney and his nitrous-fed “Black Mamba” Camaro raced to a runner-up finish in Stroud Safety Pro Mod at the inaugural Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service Great Bend Nationals last year. This time around, Haney is motivated to make it a win when the series returns to SRCA Dragstrip this weekend, June 3-4.

Haney’s runner-up finish at the event last year was the first of numerous final-round appearances for Haney and his Summit Racing Equipment-backed team. He went on to finish third in the MWDRS Pro Mod championship points.

“This race is when things really started to come together,” said Haney, who’s also the founder and owner of the MWDRS. “We went from barely being on the sheet to being in third place by the end of the year. I’m excited about our program and everything that’s about to happen as we try to get to a championship.”

Haney has been consistently going rounds in his Musi-powered, Bickel-built Camaro, but a final-round appearance has escaped the Tulsa-area businessman. A ProCharger-boosted car and two screw-blown cars have won the first three races of the season, and Haney is eager to put a win on the board for the nitrous combination.

Keith Haney Rolling to Final Memphis Race with MWDRS Pro Mod’s Quickest Nitrous Car

TULSA, OK – A promising start to the 2022 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season in late March has Keith Haney fired up for the next race on the series’ eight-race schedule, the MWDRS Memphis Nationals, April 22-23 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). Taking place in conjunction with the 35th Chevy Show Weekend, it’s one of the last major events at MIR before the track closes later this summer.

At the MWDRS season opener, Haney recorded a 3.655-second blast in his Jerry Bickel-built, Pat Musi-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro in qualifying to set the current series record for nitrous cars in Stroud Safety Pro Mod. It nearly matched Haney’s career-best of 3.653. He scored a first-round win over Texas Pro Mod hero Frankie “Mad Man” Taylor before falling to Daniel Pharris in a 3.600-to-3.741-second race in the second round.

“We came out good and lost to Daniel Pharris in a great race,” Haney said. “We were on a great pass and had a nitrous backfire around 200 feet out and took us out of the race. We probably wouldn’t have won the race, but we would’ve ran within the number we ran in qualifying. That was the goal. Obviously, [Pharris] was gonna go faster and he did. But we had good lights together and everything was there. We were together for a little bit, then we had the little backfire. But the preparation at the shop and everything we’ve been doing is paying off.”

Keith Haney to Unveil ‘America – Lady Liberty’ Blown Pro Mod Camaro

TULSA, OK – Doorslammer racing veteran Keith Haney has added yet another eye-catching hot rod to the list of Keith Haney Racing entries over the years, as he plans to unveil his screw-blown “America – Lady Liberty” ’16 Camaro during the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season opener, March 18-19 at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

“Lady Liberty” started life as “Enigma,” Haney’s record-setting, nitrous-fed Radial vs. the World entry that he debuted at Lights Out 7 in February 2016. “Enigma” made waves in the radial racing scene with Haney and Brandon Pesz sharing driving duties. Street Outlaws star “Daddy Dave” Comstock also made some passes in Enigma. The car even carried Haney to the MWDRS Radial vs. the World championship in 2017, the same year Haney also won the Pro Mod title.

“I came out with Enigma and went faster than anyone else had ever been on a set of 315 radials,” Haney said. “I wasn’t even supposed to qualify. It’s been in viral videos with millions of views. This car actually made Keith Haney. Enigma made Keith Haney when we were running Radial vs. the World at Donald Long’s races, when I had my big rivalry with Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson and I beat him in my very first grudge race. This car has such a rich history, and it’s exciting to build on that history now as ‘America – Lady Liberty.”

Keith Haney Finishes 3rd in Pro Mod in Standout Summit Racing Equipment MWDRS Season

FERRIS, TX – By advancing to the second round at the final race of the 2021 season in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, Pro Mod veteran Keith Haney secured a third-place finish to cap off an impressive season in the loaded class.

Calling it the best season he’s had in several years in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro from Jerry Bickel Race Cars, Haney enjoyed a great deal of successes, advancing to three final rounds and picking up a win in what was a thoroughly enjoyable 2021 season in the MWDRS.

“Everyone on this team had a remarkable last half of the season,” Haney said. “The camaraderie between the crew was great and this was the best year we’ve had drag racing since 2018 and this is the best race car I’ve ever owned. I’m already geared up for 2022.”

Pro Mod’s Keith Haney Looks to Close 2021 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series Season in Style in Texas

FERRIS, TX – After a tremendous second half of the season, Keith Haney has a chance to put one final exclamation point on his incredible finish to the 2021 season in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service.

After picking up an impressive Pro Mod victory at the second race of the Osage Hotel Casino Throwdown in T-Town in Tulsa, Haney can end the year with back-to-back wins at this weekend’s MWDRS Xtreme Texas World Finals at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

Haney has put together three final round appearances, including one win, and a semifinal showing since August in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro, and the veteran remains in championship contention as well. It’s an outside shot, as he sits 94 points behind Joey Oksas heading into the last race, but even having a chance is a massive victory for Haney and a tribute to the team’s performance over the last two months.
