JUSTIN ASHLEY WANTS TO KEEP MOMENTUM MOVING IN PHOENIX

PHOENIX, AZ – It has been two years since Top Fuel driver Justin Ashley competed at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix, Arizona. The third-year pro will roll into the multi-use facility with momentum and the Top Fuel points lead after opening the 2022 NHRA season with a dominating win at the NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals last Sunday. Ashley’s Phillips Connect Toyota Top Fuel dragster powered by Vita C Shot made seven consecutive flawless runs and on race day he outran Jim Maroney, Antron Brown, Steve Torrence and Austin Prock to secure his third career Top Fuel victory.

“Winning the Winternationals was a great start to the season for this Davis Motorsports team and our new sponsor Phillips Connect,” said Ashley, from the Auto Club Raceway media center. “(Crew chiefs) Mike Green, Tommy DeLago and the whole crew gave me a great race car that went down the track every run all weekend. We tested two weeks ago here at Wild Horse and want to keep that Vita C Shot style energy moving forward.”

The Winternationals win came from The No. 2 qualifying position, Ashley’s best qualifying effort since his No.2 start at the Texas Motorplex in 2020. Earlier in that same 2020 season Ashley started from the No. 5 qualifying position at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, his best career starting position to date, and he raced to a quarterfinal finish that day losing to Brown in the second round.

JUSTIN ASHLEY WINS WINTERNATIONALS

POMONA, CA – For the second consecutive NHRA Winternationals Justin Ashley raced his way to the final round and today the young driver from Plainview, New York, drove all the way to the winner’s circle. His Phillips Connect Toyota Top Fuel dragster powered by Vita C Shot turned on four wins lights on the way to victory at the 62nd annual NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals. In the first round Ashley defeated Jim Maroney, then took on Toyota Gazoo Racing North America teammates Antron Brown and Steve Torrence in consecutive rounds before outrunning 2019 Rookie of the Year Austin Prock in the final.

“We wanted to focus on our sixty-foot times and our early numbers. Our numbers in Phoenix were really good and it was up to us to make sure it translated to Pomona and the rest of the year,” said Ashley. “We are off to a good start. Those runs from testing were integral to our success today and this dragster was really like a bracket car all day. From a driver’s perspective when you have good early numbers and make runs like we did today that gives me as a driver a lot of confidence.”

“The better the car is running, of course you feel more pressure to perform as the driver. For me I always put pressure on myself to perform for my team. Our Davis Motorsports team and (crew chief) Mike Green do such an outstanding job. It is up to me to be the best driver I can be.”

BROWNSBURG, IN – In another positive move to solidify their teams’ positions as top contenders in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, Justin Ashley Racing which campaigns the Davis Motorsports Top Fueler driven and co-owned by 2020 NHRA Rookie of the Year Justin Ashley and AB Motorsports, led by three-time Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown, today announced they will be forming a Research & Development and Marketing Alliance between their organizations. The alliance will not only pair two of the most marketable Top Fuel stars behind the wheel but also two of the most decorated Top Fuel crew chiefs, with Ashley’s Mike Green and Brown’s Brian Corradi calling the shots on their teams’ 11,000-horsepower machines.

This alliance is going to improve the performance of both our programs on and off the racetrack,” said Ashley, the 2021 Texas NHRA Fall Nationals Top Fuel winner. “My team has made great strides the past two seasons with our Vita C Shot Top Fuel dragster and now is the time to keep moving forward in an effort to establish a high-level of success for years to come. Getting our crew chiefs together to share on-track and off-track technical information is invaluable. When it comes to marketing, working together opens the door to so many possibilities for our existing partners and any new relationships we start in 2022 and beyond.”
