Johnny Pluchino Goes Back to Back to Win PDRA Pro Outlaw 632 World Championship
FREDERICKSBURG, VA – With a resurgence of nitrous-assisted cars and a rules change impacting his naturally
aspirated combination, Johnny Pluchino knew he would have his hands full defending his Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) Pro Outlaw 632 world championship this season.
Pluchino and his New York-based team, led by his father, John, doubled down their efforts, though, and managed to clinch the 2019 Schwing America Pro Outlaw 632 presented by East Side Auto Transport and Precision Chassis world championship in dramatic fashion during the Brian Olson Memorial World Finals presented by ProLine Racing and $hameless Racing at Virginia Motorsports Park in October.
Last season, the second-generation driver won his title decisively, setting a class record, qualifying No. 1 four times and winning two races along the way. He realized this season’s road to the championship would be different, with drivers like Wes Distefano and his nitrous-assisted $hameless Racing ’68 Camaro gearing up to knock Pluchino and car owner Dominic Addeo’s Kaase-powered Strutmasters.com ’06 Ford Escort off the throne.
Johnny Pluchino Prepared for NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock Debut at Bristol
BRISTOL, TN – After Johnny Pluchino unexpectedly made his PDRA Extreme Pro Stock debut at the recent PDRA
North-South Shootout in Maryland, the second-generation wheelman is eager to make his quarter-mile debut in the Mountain Motor Pro Stock exhibition at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, June 14-16 at Bristol Dragway.
“This is a really big race for us,” Pluchino said. “There’s so many things going into this race. I’m preparing for it like it’s one of the biggest races of my life because it might be.”
Pluchino, the defending world champion and current points leader in PDRA Pro Outlaw 632, is set to drive the Strutmasters.com ’13 Ford Mustang previously driven by his father, 2016 PDRA Extreme Pro Stock world champion John Pluchino.
The younger Pluchino made a couple test runs in the car during the PDRA Virginia race in May, then was given the chance to enter Extreme Pro Stock competition at Maryland just hours before qualifying started. It wasn’t as quick of a decision as one might think, but Pluchino took his father up on the opportunity and qualified No. 4, gaining valuable seat time in the process.

OAKDALE, NY – Second-generation drag racer Johnny Pluchino announced today he’ll make his NHRA Mountain
Motor Pro Stock debut later this season with support from Strutmasters.com, a suspension manufacturer. Pluchino, the 2018 PDRA Pro Outlaw 632 world champion, will drive the 2013 Ford Mustang usually driven in PDRA competition by his father, 2016 Extreme Pro Stock world champion John Pluchino.
Pluchino will compete in Mountain Motor Pro Stock at the Fitzgerald USA NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, June 14-16 at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee, as well as the NHRA New England Nationals, July 5-7 at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.
“Pro Stock has been something I’ve had my eye on forever,” Pluchino said. “It’s my end goal. It’s what I’ve always wanted to race. It’s what I’ve been around my whole life. It’s what I enjoy the most. Everybody has their Top Fuel, their Funny Car, their Pro Mod – Pro Stock is it for me. It’s what I love.”
