Aaron Stanfield Earns 10th Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Victory Sunday at NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals

BRISTOL, TN – Aaron Stanfield and his Stanfield Racing Engines Chevrolet COPO Camaro secured their first Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown victory of the season Sunday at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Coming in as the No. 5 qualifier, Stanfield faced rookie Del Holbrook and his Varsity Ford / Holbrook Racing Ford Mustang in the final round of eliminations. Stanfield would make his slowest pass of the weekend at 8.361-seconds and 128.54 mph, but it would get the job done with Holbrook who overpowered the track at the starting line in his Ford for only a 11.766 at 123.00 mph.

“My dad and I always say you go through struggles and you’re only one run away from fixing everything,” Stanfield said. “We struggled a little bit during qualifying this weekend. I’ve got a great group of guys that are working on my hot rod. I couldn’t do it without them. I’m happy to get this done for them and I have to give a shoutout to Del Holbrook. He’s a new, young guy, and that’s what we need in this sport. I’m glad he had some success today but, we did it. It’s Bristol Baby.”

Lee Hartman Wins Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Bounty with First Round Win at Bristol Dragway

BRISTOL, TN – For the first time in two races, Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown will have a new winner on Sunday at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. Lee Hartman and his Carrier Services Group Dodge Drag Pak ended Lenny Lottig and his ITI Trailer & Truck Bodies COPO Camaro win streak with a first-round victory Saturday.

“Getting that first round win was awesome. We have been struggling but we have been chipping away at this tune up for a while. We had the power we were just trying to get it to the ground. We have a fast racecar and you saw that in the first round,” Hartman said. “Lenny has been tearing it up the last couple of races. This was a great win, and I am looking forward to going after three more win lights tomorrow. We won best appearing car this race too, so I would love to get a double win.”

Joe Welch Takes First Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown No. 1 Qualifier at NHRA Route 66 Nationals

JOLIET, IL – Joe Welch and his Joe Welch Racing DragPak took the inaugural No. 1 qualifying spot in the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown at the Gerber Glass & Collision NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway bettering the rest of the Chevrolet COPO Camaros, Ford Cobra Jets and Dodge Challenger Drag Paks.

Welch earned his first No. 1 of the season with a 7.636-second pass at 181.64 mph in the second session with an engine malfunction. The Joe Welch Racing Dodge ran 7.806 at 179.85 in the first qualifying session on Friday but due to his engine problems in the second session, was unable to make the call for the third session.

“I love seeing this crowd in Chicago. I just love the fans. And the fans love this class. They come by and they remember the old days of Pro Stock when they were real cars. Fans come up and ask. ‘Can I sit in it? or can I touch it?’ We tell them sure, and we really appreciate the attention and support,” Welch said. “After NHRA made the horsepower adjustment (changing the upper supercharger pulley on the Dodge Drag Pak from 3.375 inches to 3.500 inches), we’ve had to make a wealth of changes to the car and unfortunately, we were going up and trying something else when my car caught on fire. I didn’t get to get up to the starting line to make that last run. Thank God that I’ve got some friends here in the pits because they’ve loaned me parts. I’ve got people over here working on the car. Hopefully we’ll get it fixed.”

Lenny Lottig Sweeps Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown with Victory Sunday at NHRA Four-Wide Nationals

CONCORD, NC – After securing the first No. 1 qualifying position of his career on Saturday, Lenny Lottig and his ITI Trailers and Truck Bodies Chevrolet COPO Camaro would rally to win his first win of the season and third of his career on Sunday at the Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway.

In the final quad of eliminations, Lottig would have a .344-second reaction time combined with an 8.059-second pass at 176.59 mph to defeat runner-up Aaron Stanfield’s .719 reaction with a 7.701 pass at 178.26 and Stephen Bell’s 8.312 run at 151.60. Mark Pawuk would time out on the starting line and not make a run.

“It’s been a great weekend, we were low qualifier and to get the win at the end is great. We had to hurry up at the end. We got up here in 12 minutes.  It was the typical hurry up and wait game, which was a little bit stressful. I guess Pawuk timed out and then we unload with a pretty big wheel stand. We’ll take the win on a dream weekend. Our confidence has been just great because we have a car and team that is competitive,” said Lottig, who last won at the Gatornationals in March 2022. “I have to thank the crew and we surround ourselves with great people. We’ve got a great team and we’re just having so much fun. It’s been a fabulous weekend. It will be fun to celebrate with all the local people from back home who are here with us.”

After running 7.625-seconds at 179.92 mph to earn the top qualifying spot, Lottig would face Richard Ingram and AJ Berge in the first round. Lottig’s 7.698 at 176.67 would better Berge’s 7.832 at 178.52 mph and Ingram who did not make the run.

“We’ve had a great car all weekend. We’ve got a good team. We’re gelling. We’re getting all the little quirks worked out of the car and driving pretty good. It’s just coming together and it’s nice to finally see all the hard work come to fruition,” said Lottig, who, along with Berge, will have a bye run into the semifinals. “It’s much better being the number one than being further down in the pack. It’s finally nice to be on the right side of the ladder, for sure and then be able to move onto the next round.”

Joe Welch Prepped for First Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Four-Wide Experience at zMAX Dragway

CONCORD, NC – For only the second time in Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown history, Chevrolet COPO Camaros, Ford Cobra Jets and Dodge Challenger Drag Paks will battle it out across four lanes at this weekend’s Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway just outside of Charlotte.

Coming off a victory at the season opening Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Florida, Joe Welch enters the Four-Wide Nationals not only with the points lead but a national speed record to his name and the $1,000 bounty on his back. He’ll have some added obstacles this weekend, Welch has never raced in the four-wide format.

“This will be my first time racing four-wide. I’ve been asking my friends what to expect. I don’t want to get clocked out up there,” Welch said. “I’ll have to get my game face on. But I’m looking forward to it, a new experience. I’m sure it puts you on your toes and I’ll probably struggle a little bit. I’m 74-years old, so change doesn’t come easy. I’m looking forward to it.”
