Enders Gets First Comp Victory at CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals

ORLANDO – After a heartbreaking loss in the semifinals of Pro Stock at the CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS, Erica Enders had an immediate chance to make amends.

The four-time world champion did just that at Orlando Speed World Dragway and picked up an impressive first in the process.

Driving the Lee Sharp-owned Sharp Racing ’08 Pontiac G5, Enders won for the first time in Competition Eliminator, going 7.894-seconds at 176.42 mph on an 8.15 index in the final round to win and collect the $10,000 prize.

“I’m proud for the team, but I want to thank Lee Sharp for giving me the chance to drive this car,” Enders said. “I know I’ve had a bit of a bumpy road in this car, but they’ve stuck with me regardless. It’s been a huge learning curve and I’m thankful for this team staying patient with me.”

Enders managed to get refocused after falling to Cristian Cuadra in the Pro Stock semifinals when Cuadra went .001 on the starting line. Enders put up a strong .029 reaction time but she couldn’t quite track down Cuadra, going 6.516 at 210.54.

Enders After Redemption At CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS

ORLANDO, FL – Erica Enders accomplished a great deal last season, making more history in her incredible Pro Stock career.  But there was one thing missing and it’s something she can rectify right off the bat to open her 2021 season. The four-time Pro Stock world champ will race at this weekend’s second annual CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS at Orlando Speed World Dragway, with the Pro Stock winner again earning $75,000.

Like last year, it’s the biggest single-race prize in Pro Stock’s illustrious 50-plus year history and something Enders would love to add to her long list of accomplishments in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

She had an uncharacteristic first-round loss at the inaugural race last year, which only adds to her motivation heading into the weekend.

Applied Race Technology Named Sponsor of CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals Presented by JEGS

ORLANDO – With the biggest doorslammer race of the year taking place close to their Clearwater, Fla. headquarters, Applied Race Technology figured it made perfect sense to sponsor this weekend’s CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS at Orlando Speed World Technology.

Race officials announced the partnership today, adding Applied Race Technology (A.R.T), considered one of the sport’s top names for quality components and award-winning service, to the growing list of sponsors for the second annual race. The company is also serving as a sponsor for Pro Stock’s Erica Enders during the race, and their logo will be on the car of the back-to-back and four-time world champion.

“Orlando is almost in our backyard and it’s a big event, there’s no doubt about it,” A.R.T owner Brian Carithers said. “To have all these doorslammers in Pro Stock and Pro Mod there, and then you add in all the sportsman cars, we’re all pretty excited for this. Everyone at the shop is excited and knowing how racer and fan-oriented this event is, we can’t wait to check it out.
“Plus, we’re thrilled to do anything with Pro Stock and to get to work with Erica, that makes it even better.”

GunSkins Named Associate Sponsor for 4-Time Pro Stock Champ Erica Enders

WYNNEWOOD, OK – Reigning Pro Stock world champ Erica Enders and Elite Motorsports are adding a company from outside the racing world as the team begins its chase for a fifth NHRA world title.

GunSkins, a popular protective, nonporous DIY vinyl wrap for guns, was announced today by Enders and Elite Motorsports as a sponsor for the upcoming 2021 racing season, which begins March 5-7 with the CTECH World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS in Orlando and continues the next weekend in Gainesville to kick off the NHRA campaign.

On the heels of her fourth world championship in 2020, Enders is thrilled to add a marquee name to the team’s list of partners for the 2021 campaign.

“It’s a great pleasure to be involved with companies within our industry, but every once in a while it’s fun to branch out and attach our team and my name to a mainstream company that I already use and believe in,” Enders said. “I want to give a big thanks to GunSkins for this opportunity, and I know they won’t regret getting involved in drag racing. We are the demographic they cater to and it’s very exciting.”

History for EE: Enders Claims Her Fourth Pro Stock World Championship

LAS VEGAS – Erica Enders has made plenty of history in her standout Pro Stock career. Her accomplishment on Sunday in Las Vegas may have been her biggest yet.

Enders clinched her fourth Pro Stock world championship during the NHRA Finals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, giving her the most titles of any female in NHRA history. She surpassed greats Shirley Muldowney and Angelle Sampey on Sunday, moving into a legendary category all her own.

But Enders wasn’t done there, rolling to the victory with a run of 6.643-seconds at 206.39 mph in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in the final round. It was the perfect capper to a challenging and unprecedented 2020 season, where Enders yet again proved to be the cream of the crop — this time in historic fashion.

“What an unbelievable day,” said Enders, who earned her seventh victory in Vegas. “This place has been so good to me, but I couldn’t do it without my team. We persevered and dug deep, and we found a way to make it happen. I am a lucky girl to live the life I do.”

Pro Stock’s Erica Enders Hopes For Another Game Changer In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis proved to be a pivotal weekend for Erica Enders a year ago as she chased a third Pro Stock world championship. In the middle of an intense points battle as a wild 2020 NHRA season hits crunch time at this weekend’s NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway Park, Enders hopes St. Louis proves to be another game-changing event.

When Enders won the race last year, it was her first of the season, vaulting her into the championship mix in a major way. She closed the gap to Jason Line to 11 points and, using that momentum, Enders jumped into the lead a race later and never relinquished it. Sitting a mere two points back of Line entering the weekend this year, another St. Louis win could put Enders in prime position for another world title in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

“St. Louis has been great to me in past years and I’m hoping that trend continues. This race last year was the game changer for us,” said Enders, who has three career Pro Stock wins in St. Louis. “My sister (Courtney) and I were talking about it today. Last year, she told me, ‘This is where it will all change and you will become a three-time champ.’ She was right and she said it again (Friday) as we are working really hard to win our fourth (title).

After special Indy win, Erica Enders looks for first Gatornationals victory

GAINESVILLE, FL – Coming off a thrilling victory at the U.S. Nationals, where Erica Enders jumped back into the Pro Stock points lead and received a special congratulatory text from President Donald Trump, the reigning world champion will look to grab another significant achievement this weekend — her first NHRA Gatornationals victory.

The historic Gainesville Raceway is one of the few places where Enders has never won, but she heads to the Gatornationals – taking place in September for the first time in NHRA history after being postponed six months to due to the COVID-19 pandemic — with plenty of momentum in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

The three-time world champ won the most recent race in Indy, putting her in prime position to try and claim a fourth title and her first Pro Stock victory in Gainesville.

“I’m really excited to head back to Gainesville,” said Enders, a 27-time event winner in Pro Stock. “The Gators are one of my favorite events. We’ve never won there in my 16-year Pro Stock career, but we have been the runner-up three times. I’m looking forward to sealing the deal this year and hopefully extending our points lead in what could be our fourth title. This five-race stretch is crucial and we are ready for the challenge.”

REEdemption for Enders as she conquers the Big Go and claims U.S. Nationals win

INDIANAPOLIS – A year after suffering a loss in the final round of the U.S. Nationals in heartbreaking fashion, Erica Enders more than got her redemption on Sunday.

The defending Pro Stock world champ rolled to the victory in spectacular fashion, running an impressive 6.606-seconds at 208.55 mph in the final round in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro to claim the victory at the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

It gave Enders her second career win at the world’s biggest drag race, and the perfect way to make up for last year’s final round, when a mechanical failure prevented her from the victory. This time, everything was spot on, from Enders’ .009 reaction time on the starting line to a car that was quick and consistent all day. It all led to another magical moment in the winner’s circle, as Enders celebrated her 27th career victory.

“This is really sweet,” Enders said. “This win means the world to me. You never know when your last Indy is and you work your entire life for something life this. I’ve drag raced for 30 years and raced in Pro Stock for 16 years, and it’s a dream come true.”

As NHRA Restarts in Indy, Enders Looks to Pick Up Where She Left Off

INDIANAPOLIS – It’s been nearly five months since Erica Enders last competed in a NHRA race. But that one went pretty well for the reigning Pro Stock world champion, which means the goal is to pick up right where she left off after winning in Phoenix way back in February.

The COVID-19 pandemic put NHRA racing on hold since then, but the 2020 campaign officially restarts this weekend in Indy with the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals. It’s just the third race in the Pro Stock season during a year that been like no other, but the mindset remains the same for Enders. She ran impressed in Phoenix in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Camaro en route to the win, and the team aims to keep that up this weekend in Indy.

“It was a great start to the year for our team. It shows the hard work everyone on the team has put in is paying off, and that’s been exciting,” Enders said. “We have the points lead and our goal is to never relinquish it. It’s a tall order, but we’re going to come out swinging.”

That’s already been evident in testing at Lucas Oil Raceway leading to Saturday’s first qualifying session. The Elite Motorsports team, well-represented with six Pro Stock entries this weekend, looked strong right off the bat with Jeg Coughlin Jr. leading the way. Enders ran a strong 6.640 in the heat of the day, the second-quickest in the class, putting her in a good spot heading into Saturday.

Robertson Aims to Build on Big Breakthrough at World Doorslammer Nationals

ORLANDO – By the time Marty Robertson got out of his car on the top end Thursday at Orlando Speed World Dragway, there was a contingent of people already waiting on him.

A group of crew chiefs, team members and drivers from Elite Motorsports were there to congratulate the Pro Stock newcomer, celebrating a new career-best run of 6.623 at 207.94 mph in his Curing Kids Cancer Mustang during testing for this weekend’s Drag Illustrated World Doorslammer Nationals presented by CTech Manufacturing.

Robertson lowered it on Friday before the first round of qualifying, but Thursday’s run also represented another significant step in his development and improvement when it comes to driving in the new class.

“We were pretty pleased,” Robertson said of the run. “The crew came down to the top end to congratulate me, so that was pretty awesome. We’ve been able to get quicker and quicker, and that’s been exciting. Erica (Enders) and Jeg (Coughlin Jr.) have been very encouraging, so I have to give them a lot of kudos for their help.”
