The John Massingberd Memorial Award to be Presented at Drag Strip Memories
Event to be held April 13 at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
CAYUGA, ON – The Pro Modified Racing Association and what it represents to the teams, sponsors, media, race venues, and most importantly, its fans, is very pleased and honored to present The John Massingberd Memorial Award to a deserving individual again this year.
The award will be presented this year during the Drag Strip Memories Show on April 13.
In keeping with the spirit of the PMRA, it is appropriate to recognize John Massingberd through this annual award. John was a national ambassador of Canadian motorsport in all disciplines through his keen insight and entrepreneurial creativity.
In the late 1980s, John co-established Promark Motorsport International, Raceline Motorsport Television, and Snow Trax Television with Bruce Mehlenbacher, two media ventures responsible for bringing Canadian motorsport to a greater audience and well-deserved prominence. Along with covering drag racing, stock car racing, road racing, and tractor pulls with Promark and Raceline Television, John co-founded and co-anchored Raceline Radio in 1993. Continue reading
Record number of entries on tap for the return of Dragstrip Memories
Event to be held April 10 at Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
MT. HOPE, ON – The 10th annual Dragstrip Memories will be returning to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum next month, and for 2022 will present the largest collection of historic drag racing cars and memorabilia in Canada. After a two-year hiatus, this year’s show will feature over 60 drag race vehicles in most classes of straight-line racing.
The vintage Warbird aircraft of the museum will be relocated in the large hangar to present some of the most outstanding cars in this country. Along with the Northern Warrior Jet Dragster, John Reid’s AA/GS ’33 Willys Gasser, and Jack Brohman’s Pro Modified Camaro, the show will feature other nostalgia and contemporary race cars, including front-engined dragsters, Pro Modifieds, several period Gassers, and a host of Stockers and Super Stockers. Rick Kopp and his Boneshaker Jet Truck will also be on display.
There will also be club displays at the show from the Hamilton-based Road Runners and Rod Masters plus the East London Timing Association. There will be well more than 50 performance race cars for viewing.

MT. HOPE, ON ~ The Drag Strip Memories will be held once again at the Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum, presenting the largest collection of historic drag racing cars and memorabilia in Canada.
Over 50 drag race cars of several classes will be on exhibit.
The Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum is located on Airport Road in Mount Hope, just south of Hamilton, Ontario.
