Clint Satterfield: ‘The World Series of Pro Mod is the Highlight of Our Entire Year’

MORRISON, CO – Clint Satterfield might have lost in the first round of the inaugural DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a season ago, and his 2018 NHRA Pro Mod season hasn’t gone according to plan thus far.

But good luck convincing the Pro Mod veteran that the $100,000 check going to the 2018 winner of the WSOPM, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway, won’t be coming home with him.

“I’m just saying I’m going to win,” Satterfield said. “After I started looking at time slips last year, I believe I had fastest car there. I know I had faster time slips. Plus what we learned last year, we’ve got some tricks for them. I know the car hasn’t shown a lot of promised on the track yet, but I promise you, it’s one bad ass hot rod.”

It’s a brand-new “Turbo Pig” ’69 Camaro that Satterfield debuted this year, working with Larry Jeffers Race Cars and Xtreme Racing Engines by Carl Stevens, and Satterfield is anxious for its potential to be unleashed.

‘Stevie Fast’ Jackson Promises ‘Longest, Stinkiest, Nastiest, Smokiest Burnout of All Time’ at WSOPM 2018

MORRISON, CO – Big burnouts, a big payday and big excitement. If Stevie “Fast” Jackson had to sum up his thoughts and his plans for the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod that would be it.

Yes, things have not gone according to plan the last two months on the NHRA Pro Mod circuit. But with a month to work until the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe takes place on Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway, Jackson is daring you to bet against him at the $100,000 winner-take-all event. Just make sure you bring cash.

“I’m up for any type of shenanigans that cause anyone to talk trash,” Jackson said on Wes Buck’s Facebook Live show. “If somebody wants to call me out for Denver, they can call me out now. (But) I wouldn’t bet against us in the long-term.”

Jackson may seem ripe for the taking at the moment. Since a crash at the finish line during the finals of the NHRA Pro Mod Four-Wide race in Charlotte in late April, it has been a struggle for one of the most popular and outspoken drivers in the sport.

Quick Driving Racing Joins Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod as Event Sponsor

MORRISON, CO – Quick Drive, LLC, sensed the excitement of the inaugural DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a year ago, and now the Denver-area based company is officially part of the 2018 World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway.

Drag Illustrated officially announced the partnership today, as Quick Drive, a top creator of torque converter drives, will serve as a sponsor for the highly-anticipated race, which features 32 of the top Pro Mod drivers in the world vying for a $100,000 winner-take-all prize.

“I’m really glad that they chose Denver to host the event,” said Brock Graves, who is the owner of Quick Drive, along with his father, Steve, and his brother, Blayne. “Denver has such a large racing community, and each and every year it grows even more, so an event like this is definitely big for us and the area. I think it’s awesome to have the race in Denver, and for a race of this magnitude to be right in our backyard, it’s priceless.”

Quick Drive, LLC, has quickly become a major name in the Pro Mod world, producing high-quality, high-performance solutions to transmission system needs. That means developing top-notch torque converter drive units for some of the top names in Pro Mod, all with a motto of “built by racers for racers.”

NHRA Pro Mod Rookie Jeremy Ray Bringing ‘Carolina Kingpin’ to Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod

MORRISON, CO – Jeremy Ray is decidedly old-school. From the “Carolina Kingpin” nickname on the side of his orange ’63 Corvette to his “own it, drive it, tune it” approach, Ray is a throwback to the Pro Mod drivers he grew up watching.

He lives close to Pro Mod legend Scotty Cannon, had his Corvette built by Tommy Mauney and wildly respects the approach of veteran standout drivers like Todd Tutterow and Rickie Smith. That old-school demeanor is also why Ray has his sights on competing at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway.

The South Carolina native has never raced at the Denver-area track, but taking on considerable challenges is what Ray considers one of the hallmarks of old-school Pro Mod racing. Racing on Thunder Mountain qualifies as a considerable challenge, so count Ray invested on trying to tackle it.

“I’m always up for a challenge,” Ray said. “I do race because of a challenge and this will be one I’ve never been involved with before. I think this is where Pro Mods need to be, getting the main spotlight. It’s always good to go somewhere where you’re the main attraction. It’s going to be a cool deal and I’m really looking forward to it.”

PDRA Pro Boost Star Marc Caruso Bound for World Series of Pro Mod

MORRISON, CO – Marc Caruso was being put on the spot, but his answer would have been the same regardless. The PDRA Pro Boost standout was formally invited to the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod on Wes Buck’s weekly Facebook Live Show, creating a bit of breaking news in the process.

But a live invitation can present plenty of possibilities. In this instance, though, Caruso already knew his answer.

“Is that a trick question? It would be our pleasure,” Caruso said on the show. “We’re locking it in. It’s a pleasure to be there and I’m honored.”

With that, you can count another big name for the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe. It takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway and Caruso now jumps into the mix of talented racers who will compete for the $100,000 prize.

Caruso’s inclusion also presents an “all-star” element to the WSOPM, adding another top driver from outside the NHRA Pro Mod ranks.

Doorslammer Racing Hero Todd Tutterow Confirms Spot in World Series of Pro Mod

MORRISON, CO – Todd Tutterow has had success in almost every situation in what has been a spectacular Pro Mod career. But when it comes to big-money, high-stakes races, Tutterow has been elite.

He won the $50,000 North vs. South Big Dog Shootout in 2004 and was a runner-up two other years, oozing cool and thriving when others might wilt under the pressure.

Now, he’s locked in on the $100,000 up for grabs at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, accepting his invitation for the biggest and richest Pro Mod race in the history of the known universe on Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway.

The bigger the stakes, the more excited “King Tutt” gets and it doesn’t get bigger than racing on Thunder Mountain for a six-figure payday.

“I like running for the big money and I seem to do well at that type of race,” Tutterow said. “We always go to win. If you just want to qualify and go a couple of rounds, that’s not for me. To race for $100,000 and a big check, that’s what we like. It’s very, very exciting.”

MagnaFuel Delivers Championship Payouts to Top Dragster & Top Sportsman at World Series of Pro Mod

MORRISON, CO – Impressed with the success of the inaugural DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, MagnaFuel is back as a sponsor for the second year of the event, and it is bringing big Top Dragster and Top Sportsman purses with them.

Drag Illustrated officials announced today that MagnaFuel has been named the title sponsor for both the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway. The winners in both the MagnaFuel Pro Star 16 for Top Dragster and Quick Star 16 for Top Sportsman will receive $4,000, an impressive purse that has already gotten the attention of racers in both classes.

“We’re very excited to again be part of the World Series of Pro Mod,” MagnaFuel’s Robbie Ward said. “We had a great response from Top Dragster and Top Sportsman racers a year ago, and it was a neat deal seeing how competitive they were at altitude. To a lot of these guys, Pro Mod is the next level for them, and it was great to see them run at a race where they are kind of the show, too. It’s going to be really exciting this year.”

Nate Van Wagnen Named Drag Illustrated Editor-In-Chief

KIRKSVILLE, MO – Drag Illustrated, a leading motorsports publication, officially announced today that Nate Van Wagnen has been named the new Editor-In-Chief of the magazine. Wes Buck will continue as Founder and Editorial Director of DRAG ILLUSTRATED.

The official announcement furthers Van Wagnen’s role with the magazine, which started in 2014 as a freelance writer. A year later, the 22-year-old Van Wagnen was named the DRAG ILLUSTRATED Web Editor, advancing to the Managing Editor role in 2017 before being named the Editor-In-Chief this year.

“I picked up my first copy of DRAG ILLUSTRATED in 2008 and had the opportunity to start writing when I was 18. To grow in that role and now be named Editor-In-Chief, it is really surreal,” Van Wagnen said. “I really appreciate Wes entrusting me with this role, and it has been a great experience to learn with Wes and (Design & Production Director) Mike (Carpenter) over the last few years to fully understand how the whole magazine comes together. Wes trusting me with a position he has held for a long time means a lot, and says a lot about his commitment to developing the future of drag racing media.”
