LUCAS OIL NHRA WINTERNATIONALS RESCHEDULED FOR JULY, FLAV-R-PAC NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS CANCELED
GLENDORA, CA – NHRA and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona have teamed up to announce July 30 – Aug. 1 as the rescheduled date of the
61st annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com.
The Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, which traditionally kicks off the NHRA season, was postponed due to state health guidelines in California. NHRA and the track have worked very closely with state and local officials to find a new date for the event and are confident that the new date will allow more fans to attend the famed race.
“We are very excited to have the Winternationals back on our schedule,” said Kasey Coler, NHRA Vice President of Track Management and Operations. “The Winternationals is a historic event and we’re thrilled to be returning to Pomona.”
NHRA and Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash., have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Flav-R-Pac NHRA Northwest Nationals. “NHRA needed to make a decision to move forward to allow teams and touring staff time for travel preparations,” said Glen Cromwell, NHRA President.
BROWN, TASCA, ANDERSON AND POLLACHECK EARN HISTORIC LUCAS OIL NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS WINS IN FINAL RACE AT ATLANTA DRAGWAY
COMMERCE, GA – Antron Brown couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to close out the famed Atlanta Dragway on Sunday, becoming the
winningest Top Fuel driver at the historic facility with his fifth victory at the 40th and final Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals.
Bob Tasca III (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Scotty Pollacheck (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won in their respective categories at the third race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season as the NHRA held the last race at the historic track.
Brown defeated three-time reigning world champ Steve Torrence in a thrilling final round, going 3.752-seconds at 323.81 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster to beat Torrence’s 3.794 at 323.81. Brown, a three-time world champ, beat Doug Kalitta, No. 1 qualifier Billy Torrence and Brittany Force to advance to the final round, making his best run of the weekend when it counted. Brown leaves Atlanta Dragway with seven overall victories, including two that came in Pro Stock Motorcycle, while Sunday’s triumph also gave him 68 carer wins. It was a meaningful victory for Brown, who beat his close friend Torrence in the final pair of NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series competitors to go down Atlanta Dragway.
TODD, B. TORRENCE, ANDERSON AND POLLACHECK PICK UP NO. 1 QUALIFIERS AT 40TH AND FINAL LUCAS OIL NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS AT ATLANTA DRAGWAY
COMMERCE, GA – Former world champ J.R. Todd rolled to his first No. 1 qualifier in nearly two years on Saturday, taking the top spot in
Funny Car at the 40th and final Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.
Billy Torrence (Top Fuel), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Scotty Pollacheck (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also qualified No. 1 in their respective categories at the third race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season as the NHRA celebrates the long and storied history of Atlanta Dragway at its final Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals race.
Todd’s last No. 1 qualifier came in 2019, but he powered to the top on Saturday, going 3.982-seconds at 325.69 mph in his 11,000-horsepower DHL Toyota Camry. Todd will race Alexis DeJoria to start the final raceday at Atlanta Dragway on Sunday after earning his 13th career No. 1 qualifier. After winning in Gainesville to open the year, a second victory this early in the season would put Todd on a good early-season path.

LAS VEGAS – Back-to-back world champ Erica Enders went from nearly not qualifying to collecting her first victory of the 2021 NHRA
Camping World Drag Racing Series season, grabbing the Pro Stock win on Sunday at the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Steve Torrence (Top Fuel), Bob Tasca III (Funny Car) and Ryan Oehler (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won in their respective categories at the second race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.
In her 300th career start, Enders, a four-time world champ, picked up her 30th career win by going 6.656-seconds at 205.88 mph in the final round in her Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro to beat teammate Aaron Stanfield, Deric Kramer and Mason McGaha. Enders, who won her second straight race at Las Vegas and eighth overall at the facility, slipped into the qualifying field at No. 13 on her last attempt on Saturday, becoming the first Pro Stock competitor to win from 13th since 2006. She stayed perfect over her last six final-round appearances and became the first driver to win a four-wide race from the bottom half of the field.
FORCE, HIGHT, ANDERSON, SMITH EARN NO. 1 QUALIFIERS AT DENSO SPARK PLUGS NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS IN LAS VEGAS

DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Robert Hight (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also qualified No. 1 in their respective categories at the second race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.
Force, who sat out the bulk of the 2020 NHRA season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, jumped to the top spot with a run of 3.732-seconds at 320.66 mph in her 11,000-horsepower Flav-R-Pac dragster. It came during the final qualifying session and gives the former world champ her first No. 1 qualifier of the year and the 21st in her career. She’ll face off with Antron Brown and Justin Ashley to open eliminations. Steve Torrence was bumped to the second position after his run of 3.741 at 328.94 from Friday and Doug Kalitta moved up to third in the final session with his pass of 3.743 at 314.83.

PRO STOCK CLASS JOINS CAMPING WORLD FIELD AT FINAL LUCAS OIL NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS
GLENDORA, CA – As NHRA and Atlanta Dragway gear up for the final Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals, the two announced today the
addition of the Pro Stock class to the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series competition.
After discussions between NHRA officials, Atlanta Dragway staff and NHRA Pro Stock teams, the decision was made to add Pro Stock to the roster at the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals – giving Pro Stock enthusiasts a final chance to see their favorite drivers compete at the historic NHRA track. The addition of Pro Stock was a must as NHRA and Atlanta Dragway conclude the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals.

ATLANTA DRAGWAY TO HOST FINAL NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS DURING 22-RACE CAMPING WORLD SEASON
GLENDORA, CA – NHRA and Atlanta Dragway announced today that the 2021 NHRA Southern Nationals, April 30-May 2, will be the final
NHRA national event at the historic track.
As this chapter of drag racing history comes to a close, Atlanta Dragway invites racegoers to take in the final NHRA Southern Nationals.
“This year’s NHRA Southern Nationals is the capstone on four decades of racing at this track,” said Kasey Coler, NHRA Vice President of Track Management & Operations. “We know that our 40th will be a celebration of the track’s renowned drag racing history and will be an event fans won’t want to miss.”
Atlanta Dragway will continue to host its weekly event schedule through the fall, including the Summit E.T. Bracket Series events and the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series National Open, May 21-23, along with the NHRA Division 2 Summit E.T. Series Finals, September 30 – October 2.
POMONA EVENT POSTPONED TO LATER DATE, RACING CONTINUES IN LAS VEGAS
GLENDORA, CA – NHRA officials announced today the postponement of the 61st annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by
ProtectTheHarvest.com at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, originally scheduled for April 9-11.
NHRA and track officials will continue to look to state and federal health officials for recommendations to host events in California. A new date for the event is to be determined.
“We are confident we will find a new date for the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals,” said Kasey Coler, NHRA Vice President of Track Management & Operations. “We are working closely with California health officials to come to an agreement as to the best dates for the event.”
The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season kicked off with a successful race at the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville. The season will continue racing action at the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, April 16-18. NHRA officials are confident the season will consist of 22 national events.

Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Bandimere Speedway in Denver, the prestigious Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and the Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa.
These three events will take place this season as NHRA celebrates its 70th anniversary.
