Alan Johnson Racing 16th Annual Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals Race Wrap Up

Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 3 qualifier at the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals. During the second

AJRround of qualifying late Friday afternoon, Langdon posted a 3.782-second elapsed time at 315.93 mph. The Las Vegas event was the third time in five races this season that Langdon has qualified in the top-three positions.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated points leader Antron Brown in the first round with the team’s strategic marketing partner, Guy Fieri, looking on. In the second round, the Knuckle Sandwich/AJPE Toyota dropped a cylinder, and Langdon lost to Spencer Massey.

Alan Johnson Racing 16th annual Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals

Shawn Langdon enters the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals in third place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel AJRpoint standings. He trails second-place Tony Schumacher by 16 points and leads fourth-place Spencer Massey by 26 points. He trails points leader Antron Brown by 42.

Alan Johnson Racing is still searching for primary sponsorship after unexpectedly losing its funding a month before the 2015 season began, but the team now has some breathing room. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Alan Johnson Racing’s longest-standing partner having first joined the team in 2001, has increased its support. Thanks to Toyota’s increased backing announced March 28, the team can continue to compete while searching for primary sponsorship. Alan Johnson Racing hopes to race the entire 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season and compete for the 2015 Top Fuel championship, but it must secure long-term primary sponsorship.

SHAWN LANGDON, ALAN JOHNSON RACING TAKE NO. 1 QUALIFIER AT NHRA GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, FL – Shawn Langdon, driver of the Knuckle Sandwich/AJPE Toyota Top Fuel dragster, is the No. 1 AJRqualifier for tomorrow’s 46th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. Langdon, currently the Top Fuel points leader, was also the No. 1 qualifier at this event last year.

Alan Johnson Racing is competing without a primary sponsor after announcing Jan. 5 that it unexpectedly lost its funding. After beginning a sponsor search in January, well after corporate marketing budgets were set, the team planned to compete in the season’s first two races while searching for sponsorship. On Monday, the team announced that it would race in Gainesville to give its sponsor search more time, but the team must find sponsorship to compete in additional events.

ALAN JOHNSON RACING, POINTS LEADER SHAWN LANGDON WILL RACE NHRA SEASON’S THIRD EVENT IN GAINESVILLE, FLA.

BROWNSBURG, IN – Alan Johnson Racing and Top Fuel points leader Shawn Langdon will compete in this Shawn Langdonweekend’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, the team announced today. The third race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season is set for March 13-15 at Auto Plus Raceway in Gainesville, Fla.

2013 NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Champion Shawn Langdon won the season’s opening race last month in the Knuckle Sandwich/AJPE Toyota dragster. He qualified No. 1 when he posted the quickest pass in NHRA history, and with the win, he qualified for the Traxxas Nitro Shootout at Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend. The team moved on to the second race in Phoenix, advanced to the semifinals and maintained its points lead. Although still searching for sponsorship after unexpectedly losing its funding a month before the 2015 season began, team owner Alan Johnson made the decision to race in the season’s third event.

Alan Johnson Racing 31st annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals

Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 6 qualifier at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals. During the Shawn Langdon - Phoenixopening round of qualifying on Friday, Langdon made his best run of qualifying, a 3.755-second effort at 319.37 mph.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Leah Pritchett and Richie Crampton before losing to Doug Kalitta in the semifinals.

Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon leaves Phoenix as the Top Fuel points leader. After this event, he leads the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings by 33 points over second-place Antron Brown.

Alan Johnson Racing Readies for 31st annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals

? Shawn Langdon enters the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in first place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Shawn Lagdon - PomonaFuel point standings. He leads second-place Antron Brown by 32 points.

? Alan Johnson Racing opened the 2015 NHRA season Feb. 6 while exploring sponsorship options for 2015 and beyond. The team announced on Jan. 5 that it unexpectedly lost its funding in the final days of 2014. The one-car team will definitely race this weekend in Phoenix, but subsequent races will be determined by sponsor acquisition.

? Langdon won the season-opening Circle K NHRA Winternationals Feb. 8 in Pomona, Calif. It was his second Winternationals win and the third-consecutive Alan Johnson Racing win at the opening race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. Alan Johnson Racing has now won five of the last six races at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif.

LANGDON WINS ALL-TOYOTA TOP FUEL FINAL AT WINTERNATIONALS

POMONA, CA – Shawn Langdon defeated Antron Brown in an all-Toyota Top Fuel final to cap off a dominating Shawn Lagdon - Pomonaweekend in winning the Circle K NHRA Winternationals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Sunday.

Langdon registered the quickest pass in five of the seven rounds run this weekend, including the quickest pass in NHRA history with a 3.700 in qualifying on Saturday. In today’s eliminations, he defeated Steve Chrisman, Leah Pritchett and Spencer Massey before matching up with fellow Toyota driver Brown in the finals. The victory was his second Winternationals crown in the last three years. It also marked the 11th time a Toyota Top Fuel team has won in the last 12 races at the Auto Club Raceway and was Toyota’s 107th win in NHRA competition.

SHAWN LANGDON MAKES QUICKEST PASS IN NHRA HISTORY

POMONA, CA – Shawn Langdon made the quickest pass in NHRA history in the Knuckle Sandwich/AJPE Top Fuel Langdon - 3.700dragster during today’s third qualifying session for the first race of the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. Langdon, whose Alan Johnson Racing team is searching for a sponsor after unexpectedly losing its funding in the final days of 2014, is the No. 1 Top Fuel qualifier for tomorrow’s 55th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals, and the team won this event in 2014.

Langdon blistered the Auto Club Raceway track with a brilliant 3.700-second pass at 328.30 mph and blasted to the top of the event qualifying order. The previous quickest pass was Antron Brown’s 3.701-second effort recorded in October of 2012 in Reading, Pa. The teams were set to make the fourth and final qualifying attempt late Saturday afternoon when light rain showers moved into the Pomona area forcing NHRA officials to cancel the final qualifying session.

ALAN JOHNSON RACING SET TO OPEN 2015 NHRA SEASON AT POMONA

BROWNSBURG, IN – Alan Johnson Racing and 2013 World Champion driver Shawn Langdon will open the 2015 AJRNHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season next week at the 55th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., the team announced today.

Alan Johnson Racing is moving forward into the new season while exploring multiple sponsorship options for 2015 and beyond after unexpectedly losing its funding in the final days of 2014. Longtime Alan Johnson Racing crew chiefs Brian Husen and Jason McCulloch will serve as co-crew chiefs on Langdon’s Alan Johnson Racing dragster. With the separation from Al-Anabi Racing, Khalid alBalooshi is no longer driving for Alan Johnson Racing.
