Busy ADRL Weekend Coming for Davis at ‘The Rock’

SUWANEE, GA — Top Sportsman racer Ronnie Davis is planning for a major presence this weekend (Sep. 9-10) during the ADRL’s Dragstock VIII at historic Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina.

“We’re going to have two Davis Golf Cart Sales ’63 Corvettes racing in the Top Sportsman class,” the defending NHRA Division 2 Top Sportsman champion confirmed. “I’ll be driving my black Tommy Mauney Pro Mod car with its awesome Roush Yates power and I’m happy to say my good friend and a great Top Sportsman driver, Jeff Pittman, will be in my second Mauney-built car.”

At the most recent ADRL race a month ago at Virginia Motorsports Park, Davis qualified in first place and made it as far as the semi-finals.

“Hopefully, both cars will go deep in eliminations at Rockingham, but this new ADRL Top Sportsman class is tough and there’s no guarantee we’ll even both qualify,” Davis said. “I expect we’ll see the quickest and fastest field yet with the ADRL, so it’s going to be a battle for sure.”

In addition to racing and servicing his two cars, Davis’ battle will continue in the Rockingham pits as he keeps up with his major vendor display featuring sales of new Star EV Carts (www.starev.com) and Davis Custom Golf Carts (www.davisgolfcarts.com), along with complete service and parts for most brands.

But more than anything else, Davis is looking forward to returning to “The Rock” as a competitor.

“I am very happy to be racing at my good friend and sponsor Steve Earwood’s track. Steve has been a dear friend for more than 30 years and his track is one of the best in country,” he stated. “Rockingham Dragway also is the home of Rock Racing Batteries, which I use exclusively in my cars and I am a Rock Battery dealer, and Davis Golf Carts is the Official Pit Vehicle of Rockingham Dragway, so there’s a lot going on there, too.”

Additionally, a brand-new Davis Golf Cart Sales contingency program for recent Top Sportsman customers will kick off this weekend in Rockingham.

“Anyone in the Top Sportsman class who bought a cart from us within the last 12 months is eligible,” Davis explained. “We’ll pay $300 to win and $200 to runner-up at each of the last three ADRL Top Sportsman races this year. Of course, anyone who buys a cart at any one of those races also becomes immediately eligible, so I encourage all Top Sportsman racers to stop by and see us this weekend at Davis Golf Cart Sales.

“I’ve also been working the phones trying to line up some extra contingency awards for the Top Sportsman class and ADRL officials will be driving at least three carts from Davis Golf Cart Sales at the track, so we’re happy to be involved with (ADRL President) Tim McAmis and all the ADRL people at those levels, too. I really believe this is going to be a huge event on many levels.”

Ronnie Davis Racing greatly appreciates the sponsorship and support of Roush Yates Performance Engine Group, Rock Batteries, J.H. Global Star Golf Carts, Hickory Enclosed Trailers & Race Performance Motor Coach, TracStar Satellite Systems, Goodyear, CSR, VP Racing Fuels, TCI, Moroso, Magnaflow, Hedman Hedders, Auto Meter, Torque Converter Services, Braswell Carburetors, MSD, Penske Shocks, Chapman Auto Body, and Tommy Mauney Race Cars.
