BUFFALO STREET OUTLAWS GET THE BETTER OF BOOSTED GT & KAMIKAZE CHRIS AT LANCASTER
LANCASTER, NY – A near-capacity crowd turned out to Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway this past Friday to
see the stars of the Discovery Channel reality TV show “Street Outlaws” take on Western New York’s own Buffalo Street Outlaws.
Boosted GT and Kamikaze Chris came to Lancaster to take on the best the BSO had to offer, but they found out the hometown racers weren’t going to lay down for them.
A total of 14 Buffalo Street Outlaws squared off in the battled of the 405 vs. 716. Boosted GT defeated Chris MacKenzie in round one to earn a second round bye, but a mechanical issue kept him from making the call for third round. Kamikaze Chris also survived the first round with a win over Erin Moran, but he was eliminated by Doug Vanstrom in round two.
Vanstrom advanced all the way to the final round in his 1984 Ford Mustang where he went up against Ed McGuinn of Rochester in his 1980 Pontiac Trans-Am. McGuinn beat Vanstrom to top end first in the heads up, untimed event to claim victory.
The Buffalo Street Outlaws Street Limited class was also in action with a field of 17 cars. Brian Prior of North Tonawanda, N.Y. took the win even though his opponent, Mark Valvo, got off the starting line quicker with a better reaction time.
In regular Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing action, Jamie Stoneman of Clarence, N.Y. picked up his second win of the year in Top 8. Stoneman matched his dial-in in the final round with a 5.580 pass to beat Zell Gaymon.
Jacob Cislo of Hamburg, N.Y. picked up his first career win in Hebeler’s Sales Sleds & Bikes. Cislo bested Lucas Salemi in the final round in a battle of Arctic Cat snowmobiles.
Two classes were unable to declare a winner due to the midnight curfew. McGard Mod ET was down to a final pair with Clay Ricketson and John Cira, Jr. remaining. Mallare Enterprises Top ET was down to five cars left in competition.
Coming up this Friday, July 8, the Buffalo Superchargers make their return to Lancaster. They will be joined by a full card of IHRA bracket drag racing with all four weekly classes in action.
