BROWN WINS DELAYED SEATTLE TOP FUEL FINAL; WORSHAM RUNNER-UP IN FUNNY CAR

TORRANCE, CA – It took almost two weeks to decide it, but Antron Brown won today’s rain-postponed Seattle Top Toyota LogoFuel final, while Del Worsham drove his Toyota Camry Funny Car to runner-up honors for the NHRA Protect The Harvest Nationals that were finished today at Brainerd International Raceway.

Brown picked up right where he left off in Seattle registering a 3.747-second pass to beat Steve Torrence for his fourth win of the season. He had previously defeated T.J. Zizzo, Clay Millican and Morgan Lucas in the first three rounds run at Pacific Raceways.

“We’re pretty excited,” said Brown, who extended his Top Fuel points lead with the win. “All of our boys were pushing hard on that one. The track was tight and it just gobbled it up. It felt good and we got it done. It’s another Wally on the shelf.”

Worsham had registered six consecutive 3.8-second passes and then collected a pair more on Friday in Brainerd before matching up with Ron Capps in today’s final round. Unfortunately, the reigning Funny Car world champion was unable to make a clean pass with Capps taking the victory. Worsham had knocked off Tim Gibbons, Robert Hight and Matt Hagan in Seattle before matching up with Capps.

Today’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series finals can be seen tonight as a part of the Brainerd qualifying broadcast on FS1 beginning at 10 p.m.
