Brogdon’s Phoenix luck is running hot after qualifying 

PHOENIX, AZ – The odds of Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon leaving Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park with a Wally are growing in his favor after securing the No. 2 starting position in qualifying for the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.

“We’ve had four good runs the entire weekend so far,” Brogdon said. “Now we just need a few more when it counts. In the last qualifying session we tried something out, but the car didn’t like it at all. We still feel pretty good going into tomorrow though despite that. We’ll just go back to our original data and try again.”

Heading into the first round of final eliminations Sunday looking to turn on the win lights, Brogdon will line up his Rodger Brogdon Racing Chevrolet against No. 15 Deric Kramer’s Dodge Dart.

“We have the car to get it down tomorrow, that’s for sure,” Brogdon said. “We just have to make the right calls on setup and I have to turn the pedal loose a few times to make the other guys miserable.

“Hopefully, we can luck out and get a little cloud cover for each of our runs. The track would definitely be better and I want to show everyone what we’re working with.”

Brogdon’s confidence has been higher than ever this weekend despite having mechanical issues early Saturday morning before Q3. However, knowing that his partnership with Elite Motorsports will produce successful results, Brogdon is calm, cool, and collected heading into race day.

“Heading into Saturday’s sessions we thought we were having an engine issue and swapped motors,” Brogdon said. “Thankfully the issue wasn’t as big of a problem as we originally thought and we got it fixed in time. The good thing about having Elite Performance power this year is that no matter what engine we put in, they’re all just as fast as each other. It takes a lot of the worry out of it.”

Eliminations will start at approximately noon, Sunday, with both qualifying and elimination action broadcast on ESPN2 on tape-delay basis.
