Allen Johnson Trusts in Fuel Injection Setup Heading into CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals

GREENEVILLE, TN – The second of 24 events in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series brings Allen Johnson and his Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park this weekend for the 32nd annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.

With the Winternationals gremlins in the rearview mirror, Johnson is confident that the setup they had for raceday in Pomona would’ve been a contender if they hadn’t experienced the untimely mechanical issue in the second round.

“You know, I think we will go to Phoenix with the same setup we had in Pomona and fix the gremlins,” said Johnson. “Once we fix that, I think we’ll be back in the top five.”

Johnson is not a stranger to success at the Chandler, Arizona racetrack. The Greenville, Tennessee-based driver has raced his way to the finals three times in his career and was left standing as the winner in 2005 and 2014.

“To win in Phoenix, we just need to make four good qualifying runs in our Marathon Petroleum Dart and learn on each of those runs to get faster. Then, we can go into raceday with a great setup and all the gremlins gone.”

Qualifying at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals will begin on Friday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
