Alan Johnson Racing 61st annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals

Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 8 qualifier at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. During the Shawn Langdon - IndySaturday-evening qualifying session, Langdon made his best of four qualifying attempts – a 3.806-second pass at 319.29 mph.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Tony Schumacher and Doug Kalitta before losing to Dave Connolly in the semifinals.

Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon finishes the regular season in sixth place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings. He trails fifth-place Brittany Force by six points and leads seventh-place Doug Kalitta by 13 points, although the points will be reset prior to the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs in Charlotte in two weeks.

Langdon on the U. S. Nationals: “We didn’t win the U.S. Nationals so we’re obviously disappointed about that because it’s such a big race , but we really had a pretty good day. Making that 3.84 run in the first round was good for the Knuckle Sandwich Toyota team; that was a tough first-round matchup with Tony (Schumacher). Going into the second round, we had Doug Kalitta; we won, but the car was spinning the tires down the track. We tried to fix a couple of things and felt confident going into the semifinals against Dave (Connolly). We’re really not sure what happened. Three of the four cars smoked the tires early so we obviously missed it somewhere. I guess we just overpowered the race track. We still have a good race car, and we still want to run the Countdown. Hopefully we can get some sponsorship so we can do that.”

Next Race: If sufficient sponsorship is in place, Alan Johnson Racing will be back in action Sept. 18-20, 2015 at the 8th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals near Charlotte.
