A TRUCKIN’ GOOD NIGHT AT LANCASTER

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway hosted Truck Night presented by Hunter Truck Sales, Peterbilt Buffalo and Mallare Enterprises on Friday night. The event was a chance for dump truck and semi-truck drivers to try their hand at drag racing with their big rigs.

The Dump Truck and Semi Truck classes had great turnouts with around 20 trucks in each class. Greg Graham of Pavilion, N.Y. took the win in the Semi Truck class in his 1979 Peterbilt. Tim Payne of Gasport, N.Y. won the Dump Truck class aboard a 2013 Caterpillar. Both winners took home $750 for their efforts

There was also a special class for pick-up trucks and SUVs sponsored by Halleen’s Auto & Truck Accessories. Street ET regular, Chris Kujawski of Lancaster, N.Y., scored the win in a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer.

In regular Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing action, Joe Masullo of Buffalo, N.Y. continued his hot streak. Masullo made the Top 8 finals for the sixth week in a row and he earned his third win during that stretch as he defeated Steve Ferstl in the finals. Masullo now has six total win in the 2016 season.

Rick Szewczyk, Sr. took top honors in Mallare Enterprises Top ET as he edged Bill Blaser, Jr. in the final round. Clay Ricketson of E. Aurora, N.Y. won McGard Mod ET for the second week in a row after his opponent, Derrick Kovach, broke out in the finals.

In Hebeler’s Sales Sleds & Bikes, Brian Babiak of Elma, N.Y. won for the second time in 2016. He caught passed Lucas Salemi in a motorcycle versus snowmobile final pairing.

Before Friday night Cody Winkowski of Depew, N.Y. had advanced to the final round of Tread City Tire Street six times this season, but had not tasted the spoils of victory. Seven turned out to be Winkowski’s lucky number as he finally picked up his first win of the season as he beat Brad Zygaj for the victory.

This Sunday, August 28 is Lancaster National Dragway 27th annual Ironman Classic Race of Champions featuring a Box/No Box Shootout plus Junior Dragsters. All former class winners, track champions and Race of Champions winners are eligible to compete in this prestigious event. The Box & No-Box winners will receive an IHRA Ironman trophy. The postponed 2015 Champions Run-Off will also take place. All 2015 Lancaster National Dragway champions will go head-to-head for the title of 2015 Grand Champion and a fantastic prize package. Time trials start at 1 p.m.

This Friday, September 2 the Buffalo Street Outlaws return to Lancaster plus the Empire State Drag Racing Series, TNT Hot Rods and Lancaster’s weekly Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing classes. Time trials start at 5 p.m.
