CARUSO CONTINUES STRONG QUALIFYING EFFORT NO. 7 AT GATORNATIONALS
GAINESVILLE, FL – Showing no signs of slowing down rookie Pro Stock driver Camrie Caruso continued to impress as she made another
strong run in the lone Pro Stock qualifying session at the NHRA Gatornationals today. As track temperatures dropped and conditions turned challenging Caruso, a 24-year-old driver from Denver, North Carolina, was unfazed and qualified her Right Trailers Chevrolet Camaro powered by Titan Racing Engines No. 7 in a tough field. Her run of 6.516 seconds at 210.70 mph was her quickest career run.
“That was a really good run and I am so proud of this Right Trailers Chevrolet Camaro team,” said Caruso, following her third consecutive qualifier in the top half of the field. “Everyone on this team is working so hard and only getting one run today was a big challenge. We knew that session would be tricky. I just did my routine and trusted my team. I am excited to head into race day tomorrow. We are looking to keep building on our success.”
Friday’s qualifying session was rained out and today more rain pushed the schedule back into the late afternoon. The NHRA Safety Safari did a masterful job of preparing the racetrack for competition and Caruso took full advantage of a solid racing surface. Her Jim Yates tuned Camaro launched hard and Caruso kept it right in the middle of the groove as she accelerated down the track. At the time of her run it was the second quickest pass of the day and she would eventually get shuffled back a few slots.
Caruso will face Cristian Cuadra in the first round for the second race in a row. Caruso earned her first win light defeating Cuadra in the opening round of the NHRA Arizona Nationals. This is the first race with Right Trailers as the primary sponsor joining Global Emissions Systems Inc. (GESi®), NGK Spark Plugs, and VP Racing Lubricants as major supporters of the early favorite for NHRA Rookie of the Year.
The race will get underway tomorrow at 11 a.m. with Top Fuel and Funny Car leading into the Pro Stock first round. The event will be televised nationally on FS1.
