JOE MASULLO DOUBLES UP AT LANCASTER NATIONAL DRAGWAY
Becomes second driver to sweep Top ET & Top 8 in same night
LANCASTER, NY – For the second time in 2016 a driver at Lancaster National Dragway picked up two class wins in
the same night. Joe Masullo of Buffalo piloted his rear engine dragster to victories in both Mallare Enterprises Top and Top 8.
Masullo first defeated veteran Vito Antonicelli in the Top 8 finals. He was then inserted into the Mallare Enterprises Top ET bracket where he advanced to the final round once again. Masullo got the win over Jan Winkowski in the Top ET final after both competitors broke out.
Masullo joins Wayne Cleveland as the only other driver to pick up two class wins in the same night. He now has five overall wins at Lancaster in 2016 with three in Top 8 and two in Top ET.
In other Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing action, Jim Rubino of Buffalo took top honors in the Buffalo Superchargers. Rubino scored the win after Frank Malvaso red lighted in the final pairing.
Ryan Ricketson scored his third win of the season in McGard Mod ET. Ricketson outran Mark Peikart in the finals to complete the hat trick. Ricketson and his twin brother Reid have combined for seven wins in Mod this season.
The Nearhoof family scored their third-straight win Hebeler’s Sales Sleds & Bikes as Mike Nearhoof won for the second week in a row. The Youngstown, N.Y. rider won after Dave Lawrence left the starting line early in the finals.
Ken Wischman of Elma, N.Y. took the win Tread City Tire Street ET for the second time in 2016. Wischman won in a double breakout against Keith Balser.
The Gasser Racing Series returns to Lancaster on Friday, August 19 with two classes of racing. All of Lancaster’s weekly Franco’s Pizza drag racing classes will be in action, including a special event for Sleds & Bikes.
