BAUER III, SIEPEL, RICKETSON, SALEMI, GEORGE TAKE LADIES NIGHT WINS AT LANCASTER

Rachel Lama wins Ladies Amateur Street class special

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway hosted Ladies Night for the Franco’s Pizza Friday Rachel LamaNight IHRA Drag Racing program. The event was headlined by an appearance from the Queen of Diamonds Jet Dragster, piloted by Jill Canuso.

Canuso wowed the crowd as she laid down the two fastest passes of the season on Lancaster’s 1/8-mile drag strip. Her first run was a blistering 3.66 seconds at 210 mph. Canuso backed it up on her second pass as she went quicker with a 3.65-second run at 211 mph.

Lancaster also held a special Ladies Amateur Street class to support the theme of the evening. The class was open to any aspiring novice female drag racers that wanted to compete with their street legal car. In the final round Rachel Lama defeated Danielle Click in her 1998 Dodge Dakota truck to take the win. Lama’s prize for her victory was a 1/3-carat diamond ring courtesy of Cash & Go Pawn.

Uncle Bob’s Self Storage Quick 16 was on hand as a make up for an earlier rain out. Robert Bauer III of Elma, NY took the win aboard his K-100 Fuel Treatment rear engine dragster. Bauer beat Mike Nowak after both racers broke out in the final run. He ran 5.077 seconds in the finals which was .013 seconds faster than his 5.09 dial-in.

It came down to a pair of Lancaster National Dragway veterans in McGard Top ET. Dick Siepel of Kenmore, NY triggered the win light over Fran Pepi after Pepi broke out in the finals. Siepel was on target on his final pass as he ran 5.857 seconds at 116 mph on a 5.85 dial-in aboard his Blind Faith 1969 Corvette.

Clay Ricketson was victorious in Mod ET over Matt Hughes. In Hebeler’s Bikes & Sleds, Lucas Salemi got a bye run in the finals after his competitor, Josh Piccolo, broke. Louie San George of Tonawanda, NY took the win in Street ET over Dan Knab.
