Adler, Positano, and Catanzaro claim wins during Super Chevy Show at US 131

MARTIN, MI – Round two saw first-time winners in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Randy AdlerPro Bike & Sled Series during the Super Chevy Show held at US 131 Motorsports Park at Martin Michigan over the weekend.

Winning his first PMRA race was Randy Adler, while Tony Positano captured his first Quick 32 Sportsman Series win, and Mark Catanzaro rode to his first PBSS victory.

Racing his 1957 Chevy Pro Modified from Tinley Park, Illinois, Adler qualified second in the PMRA field. Sponsored by the A-Team Speed Shop, the Chevy of the UDRA and Super Chevy series champ features a blown AJ Hemi on a Tim McAmis Race Cars produce.

He met up with three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek, Ontario in the final. Boland, who won the opening race in May this year, qualified his B&B Racing 1968 Firebird on the pole, and in the race of the day, Adler nipped Boland with a 6.223, 234.85 win over Boland’s 6.257, 234.07.

In the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, series regular Tony Positano went the distance to win his first event. The Toronto, Ontario Top Dragster driver, who qualified second, took out number one qualifier Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario with a 6.488, 211.72 over Wildgust’s losing 6.146, 233.92.

Meanwhile, on the Top Sportsman side, Ken Langois of Milan, Michigan advanced to the final and met up with Jon Schmid of Buffalo, New York. Langois, who qualified seventh, drove his nitrous-assisted big-block Chevy-powered 1963 Corvette to a 7.396, 185.09 win over the number six qualifying Pontiac GTO of Schmid with a 7.137, 187.99.

Also winning his first was Pro Bike rider Mark Catanzaro of Port Huron, Michigan. The Suzuki rider qualified sixth in the field, went laps, and met up with 2013 PBSS champion Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario, who qualified number two on his Pro Bike Suzuki. Catanzaro posted a winning 9.457, 134.80 over Cryderman’s 8.352, 162.44.

Presently leading in the Championship Point Award Series points in the PMRA is Boland, with Jack Grainy of Basom, New York second and Jeff Roth in third.

With his victory at Martin, Positano takes the lead in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series, followed by Top Dragster driver Glen Vardy of Burlington, Ontario and the Top Sportsman team of Wilson and Gray of Ingersoll, Ontario.

Cryderman continues to lead in PBSS Championship Point Award Series, followed by Catanzaro and Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario.

Next event for the PBSS and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series is the inaugural June 13-14 race at Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY. The PMRA returns to the track June 20-22 for the IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca enters its 10th season of popular Pro Modified racing this year, while the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca will begin its sixth season, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) presented by Wiseco Performance Products, www.PBSS.ca begins its fourth year of operation. Several times during the race season all three series compete at the same weekend events, offering a colourful, diverse, and exciting package of drag racing action.
