Long-lasting rivalry continues in Gainesville for ProtectTheHarvest.com driver Brogdon

GAINESVILLE, FL – ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon is battling for his shot at an NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series championship against one of his biggest competitors, and it was no different at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville.

Unfortunately, with a pair that continues to meet, Brogdon’s 6.599 at 210.93 mph in round one wasn’t quite strong enough to pull out the upset against rival Jeg Coughlin Jr.’s 6.550 at 211.89 mph in his new Dodge Dart.

“We sure are frustrated we didn’t go further in today’s eliminations,” Brogdon said. “The whole team was hopeful that we could grab the victory early on and continue to make the car better from there. Unfortunately, today just wasn’t our day or our weekend. We battled to the end, and I’m proud of all the guys that put us in the position to be competitive.

“It’s on to the next race, though, in my mind. We plan on going to the test track before the Vegas race to see what other significant gains we can figure out. We were strong in Vegas last year, and I think we will be strong again and go a few rounds.”

In a race that saw Brogdon versus Coughlin last year in Vegas, Brogdon is hoping to turn the tables and seek a little revenge on a rivalry that continues to grow this season.

“Like always, don’t count us out ’till the win lights appear,” Brogdon said. “If I were a gambling man, and I am, I would put my money on the ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro. We will be ready for whatever Las Vegas holds for us.”

Brogdon will try to put his money where his mouth is when the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season continues at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, March 28-30 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
