ProtectTheHarvest.com driver Brogdon looks for continued success in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, FL – It’s only the third stop of the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, but ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon knows that this weekend’s 45th annual NHRA Gatornationals at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville is the best place for him to start making championship moves.

Returning to a track that has given him much success in his career, Brogdon hopes that his Chevy Camaro will get it done again, especially with some of the new improvements they have made so far this season.

“I think we’re going to do well this weekend,” Brogdon said. “I’ve always done well in Gainesville in the past. I’ve even been fortunate to have won a couple of races there before. Hopefully, I will do the same again this weekend and turn it into a major points day.

“Compared to previous times though, I have a little bit more power under the hood. I just hope to make the best of what I have this weekend.”

Just to ensure that things go well this weekend for Brogdon, the ProtectTheHarvest.com team is already at Auto-Plus Raceway testing to try to gain an advantage over the rest of the Pro Stock field.

“We’ll see what happens when race day comes,” Brogdon said. “When you get this far along in the Pro Stock series, the gains you make are in very small increments. We’re at the point now that we need to figure out a way for those gains to show up on the scoreboard when it matters most.”

Brogdon will look to continue his Gainesville success when qualifying begins at noon EDT on Friday and continues that day with another session at 2:15 p.m. Qualifying will wrap up with two sessions at noon and 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Final eliminations for the NHRA Gatornationals start at noon on Sunday. ESPN2 will air the qualifying show at 1 a.m. EDT on Sunday and the eliminations show at 7 p.m.
