NAPANEE, ONTARIO – Jamie Bridge said he expects some stiffer competition for this season’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts tour.
The Napanee, Ontario driver was named the Series Sportsman of the Year, placed second in the Championship Point Award Series and believes the stakes will be raised for 2010.
“I think the level of competition and drivers will be much higher this year,” said the driver of the Lynja Motorsports Top Dragster. “I think it’s going to be a dogfight right to the end.”
Driving his 2008 Undercover Motorsports dragster, powered by a 565-cubic inch Engine Research & Development (ERD) engine, Bridge qualified for all six Quick 32 Sportsman Series events last year, highlighting his season with a runner-up spot in Top Dragster in June at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
The car utilizes an Edelbrock nitrous system, and the power is transmitted through an Abruzzi Racing Transmissions Powerglide. He wanted to thank Carl Spiering of ERD for his work on freshening up the engine, and added that the car is basically the same as last year.
Crew chief on the team is Lynda Bridge, and the team’s sponsors include NAPA Auto Parts / Universal Supply Group, Lynja Injection Services, Centre Street Auto Sales, and Abruzzi Racing Transmissions and Torque Converters.
Bridge, who started racing in 2003, said he enjoyed competing in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series in its first year, and is looking forward to his season and the growth of the Series.
He also said he hopes he can stay in the hunt and win rounds.
“I’m excited to see the Series with new faces,” he said. “And hopefully this old man from last year is a better driver.”
Bridge will be ready to race for the Victoria Day Weekend Spectacular May 21-23, round one in the 2010 Quick 32 Sportsman Series. This season-opening race will be held at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
