AL-ANABI DUO LEADS TOYOTA IN BRAINERD NHRA QUALIFYING

TORRANCE, CA – Al-Anabi Racing teammates Khalid alBalooshi and Shawn Langdon qualified third and fourth in Top Fuel to lead Toyota in qualifying for Sunday’s Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minn.

Both drivers were consistently fast over the course of the weekend with alBalooshi topping two of the four sessions, while Langdon earned top-three bonus points in a pair of sessions. Langdon will take a 151-point lead in the championship race into tomorrow’s eliminations. If he can maintain that advantage, he will clinch the top spot for the upcoming Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

Antron Brown also qualified in the top half of the field with a sixth and earned two bonus points for being second-quick in the final qualifying session.

Brandon Bernstein qualified 10th and Morgan Lucas, coming off a victory at the most recent event in Seattle, earned the 12th position. Lucas is the defending race champion as well.

Del Worsham led the way in Funny Car with a strong 4.090-second run in his DHL Toyota Camry to place eighth. Cruz Pedregon qualified 11th, with Chad Head 13th, Alexis DeJoria 14th and Tony Pedregon in 15th.

Today’s qualifications show can be seen on ESPN2 tonight from 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., while Sunday’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series eliminations are scheduled to run on ESPN2 from 9:00 p.m. – midnight. (all times EDT).
