Sydnie Hyde ready to do battle with Quick 32 Sportsman Series opener

STRATFORD, ON – Now entering her third year of racing in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Sydnie Hyde Sydnie Hydesaid she is getting anxious to return to the seat of her Top Dragster for quarter-mile competition.

I am really looking forward and am getting excited to get back out, said the teenager, who is a fulltime student during the off-season. We will be ready for Martin.

A former Junior Dragster driver, Hyde stepped into the powerful Hyde Racing Top Dragster two years ago and has been a quick study, running the car in the high six-second range at speeds of 200 mph. The 272-inch Spitzer Enterprises dragster is powered by a 740-cubic inch ERD (Engine Research & Development) engine with an ERD fuel system, and backed by a Coan Engineering Mega Glide transmission. The team is headed by owners Peter and Lisa Hyde, with Ron Hyde as crew chief. Also on the team are Spencer Hyde, Jack Hyde, and Murray Hyde. ERD’s Carl Spiering also plays a main role with the team.

The team is sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, Ideal Supply, Hyde Construction, Hyde Electric, Dordan Mechanical, Raedon Excavating, Ronnoco Sales, NA Engineering Associates, Wilhelm Concrete, Steve Smith Construction, Sutton Group (Paul Graham) and Orr Insurance, Coors Light (Jeff Carr), Ramseyer Earthworks, Schultz Plumbing, Remex Trucking, iLOOKABOUT and the Tim Horton’s at Ontario and Erie in Stratford.

Hyde said the car has not received any major updates during the off season, and although she has not had as much pre-season time in the car as she would like, she is hoping for a good season.

Carl (Spiering) has refreshed the engine, she noted. I was hoping to get more time in the car before racing began but I have been too busy with school.

This year I’m looking to getting more seat time and winning a few races, she continued. I am looking at getting some more 200-mph laps. It is nice to see that number.
