SANTA ANA, CA – Focused…that is the theme for the NMRA Ford Nationals 15th Anniversary Tour as Special Events dominate the 2013 racing schedule. The #1 all-Ford Motorsport show in the United States will feature a tighter schedule, more heads-up racing, and exciting special events. Over four thousand racers and car show participants will be competing for fame and fortune as national bragging rights are on the line as well as the richest purse and contingency program of any Ford-only series.

As usual, the NMRA season opener is the 19th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout held March 7-10 at Bradenton Motorsports Park (Bradenton, FL). The Spring Break Shootout kicks off on Thursday, March 7th at a special Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Open House. This free event is open to anyone and will feature free parts raffle, tour facility, free food and drinks, music, and much more. For more information log-on to Muscle Mustang’s website as we get closer to the event.

The NMRA season goes live on Friday, March 8th and is followed by a traditional kick-off party at Hooters of Bradenton with a car show, burnouts, and famous Hooters’ girls. The rest of the event will feature the best in NMRA Ford drag racing including 100+ cars in TREMEC True Street with a qualified field in the Muscle Mustangs Spring Break Shootout class on Sunday. Adding a unique flare to this event is a special Cobra Jet Showdown, presented by Ford Racing, that will feature factory-built hot rods in an 8 and 9 second slugfest. We don’t call it the Spring Break Shootout for nothing—come for the warm weather, parties, and exciting street legal drag racing and car show.

A little over a month later the NMRA series travels up the road to Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia, the weekend of April 11-14 for the 5th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. Both NMRA and NMCA racers converge on one facility to let loose a fury of horsepower in one of the largest muscle car events of the year. Be part of the 15,000 fans sitting in the Atlanta Dragway stands watching the explosive head-to-head action on track. We call it the All-Star Nationals because of the record-breaking performances and the fact that all the cars and all the stars of street-legal drag racing are at one exciting event.

The third stop on the 15th Anniversary tour is where we pay tribute to the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) as the factory Ford hot rod shop celebrates its 20th anniversary. The facility hosting the NMRA event and SVT tribute is none other than the stunning mid-Atlantic facility, Maryland International Raceway (MIR) in Mechanicsville, MD. Keep the weekend of May 3-5 open, especially if you are an SVT fanatic. This SVT specialty event-within-an-event features several SVT racing and show categories. As a bonus most SVT racers will receive a free secondary race entry (True Street or NMRA Brackets). First on the SVT list is the VMP Tuning Terminator vs. Shelby GT500 Shootout where bragging rights will be settled. The SVT Lightning truck community is one of the most exciting SVT brands as evident by the sheer number of trucks still being modified and turned into drag strip haulers.  Lightning racers are invited to join the popular Truck & Lightning category where they can race alongside legends like Johnny Lightning in his supercharged truck.  TREMEC True Street, presented by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, is always one of the largest classes run on Saturday at each NMRA event. There will be a separate SVT-only True Street class (’93 to ’13 SVT cars & trucks only) with its own cash and prizes—exclusively for SVT racers! SVT True Street racers will make 3 consecutive passes down the ¼ mile and $250 + 6’ trophy will be awarded to the overall fastest, and $100 + plaque will be awarded to each racer with the closest average to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 seconds!

NMRA and its racers head to a new venue in 2013 and are excited to make a stop at thrilling Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The weekend of June 14-16 has been reserved for this all-Ford extravaganza and this Norwalk event will play host to two exciting affairs.  First off is the official Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords 25th Anniversary Party where we’ll all celebrate a ¼ Decade of MM&FF Magazine on the ¼-mile with special guests and party plans for this birthday bash. Also scheduled for the Norwalk blowout is a 5.0 Mustang Shootout that brings the world’s quickest 2011-2-2013 Mustang 5.0L drag racing machines on track for pride and glory.  Nitrous, Supercharged, and Turbocharged 5.0-powered modern Mustangs will be setting records with the hottest 5.0L tuner shops leading the charge.  Do you have the quickest 5.0 Mustang in America?  Join the fun and find out.

The NMRA and NMCA series are brought together a second time in 2013 at Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, IL) in a four-day bash July 11-14.  Unlike the All-Star Nationals where breaking records is the theme, the Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing puts both series head-to-head in a special Shootout where the NMRA class winners compete against their NMCA rivals for bonus cash and a chance to take home a world famous Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Super Bowl Ring.  The diamond-laden ring is a special design exclusively for the Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing shootout.  Team NMRA has been dominating this event with 5 team wins in the first 7 NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl events. Will the NMRA dominance continue on street-legal drag racing’s biggest stage?

The 15th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA All-Ford World Finals will invade Beech Bend Raceway October 3-6, and Mustangs will take over the city of Bowling Green, which has played host to major Ford events since the first World Ford Challenge back in 1998.  The NMRA World Finals is special—not just because it’s the largest all-Ford event of the year—but also because championships are on the line and racers leave nothing to chance. World championships and world records are a big part of the NMRA World Finals as racers put in their final effort to win the exclusive Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Championship Rings. This extra special event will showcase everything from wheel-standing Outlaws and Renegades to stock cars and everything in between.  The TREMEC True Street class, presented by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, has averaged well over 100 competitors the past 2 years and is a testimonial to the crazy street-legal performance that’s possible with Mustangs and Fords.  This 2013 event will also bring together ten of the most powerful, well-engineered, and gorgeous Mustangs from around the U.S. participating in 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords’ King of the Street competition.  Each competitor will be judged on ¼ mile performance, horsepower, and appearance with the overall champ taking home the King of the Street title.  The NMRA World Finals will also showcase a special VMP Tuning Terminator/GT500 Shootout, where the fastest ’03/’04 Cobras and GT500’s will race against each other for yearlong bragging rights.

Each NMRA national event also feature a huge UPR Products All-Ford Car Show, where you will see a sea of color as hundreds of blue oval car show participants shine up and show off their awesome late-model and early Mustangs and Fords.  Magazine editors will be drooling as they search for cover cars & features amongst rows of stock and modified show cars.  All NMRA events also feature the largest all-Ford manufacturers midways and swap meets of the year.  Be sure to hit the ATM on the way to any NMRA event so you can bring home great deals on the parts you need.  Finally…hang on to your seats for flame-throwing 300+ mph jet car exhibitions and the world famous NMRA burnout contest where past participants have gone as far as blowing tires and destroying engines for the roar of NMRA’s crowd!
