CHICAGO, IL — Legendary announcer, Al Tucci (A.K.A. The Voice), announced on Tuesday, that he will be calling all the race action in 2011 for the American All Track Racing Series (AATRS).
Al Tucci tells a story like no other. His charisma is unmatchable, his energy is unduplicated, his style is unmistakable and his one-liners are legendary. Fans are literally on the edge of their seats when Al is on the mic. His knowledge of muscle cars is endless and his unique take on the comings and goings of the water box, has fans waiting for his ever famous call… “Beeeaauuutiful Smoky Burnout”! Fans are brought to their feet and rocking it out in the stands, as he narrates the cars down the track.
Tucci, who’s announcing career spans over 20 years, has attended over 3000 drag races and called over 2000 races across the USA, Canada and Sweden.
Starting his career as a bracket race announcer in the late 1980’s, Tucci took his natural talents across the mid west announcing at small venues and tracks. When the head’s up movement rolled in, in the early 1990’s, Tucci’s passion for muscle cars and unmistakable style, had him move on to the NMCA as one of the official announcers. From there, Tucci has announced for the NSCA, WCHRA, PSCA, ADRL and is the official announcer for the CSCN, the annual Shakedown at E-Town, and the Radial Revolution Series; along with many other private heads up street races across the nation.
In addition to the numerous drag races he announces, Tucci has done TV and voice over work for Fox and many others. In 2009 and 2010 he received awards for his unique style, undeniable talent and the entertainment he brings to the sport of drag racing.
When approached by the organizers of the AATRS to announce for this new organization, Tucci said he could not be happier to be a part of it.
Al went on to reminisce how as a boy, he used to sit along the fence at the Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI and announce the races. Broadway Bob Metzler, gave Al his start when he overheard him entertaining his friends in the stands each week, and offered him an announcing job on Wednesday nights. “Broadway Bob gave me my start, and at the beginning of my career that meant everything to me. Everyone has to start somewhere, and if I can entertain the fans of this new organization and have them enjoy themselves as much as I do at each event, I’m on board!”
The AATRS inaugural race is May 20-22 in Tulsa, OK. For more information about the AATRS and their 2011 race schedule, please visit their website at www.aatrs.com.
