Sonoma, CA – Putting the finishing touches on their race day set up, the Goodguys Racing Team led by Marc Meadors unleashed the raw power of the “Pure Hell2” ’69 Camaro over the Memorial Day Weekend recording the quickest and fastest quarter-mile run for a door car at Infineon Raceway.

Starting out the test session with an on an off the throttle 6.24 @ 237mph (running a huge back half speed of 62mph), the team returned later in the afternoon to stop the clocks with a stunning 5.83 @ 247mph – by far the team’s best run in four years racing together. It was the first “door car” to ever record a sub-six second run at the vaunted track. The incremental times on the historic run included a .971 sixty foot reading followed by a 2.57 330’ time of and a 3.84/195mph half track clocking.

Following transmission problems at a race in Las Vegas last month, the team is hopeful the mechanical gremlins are gone for good. “The car was perfect after the 5.83 run,” Meadors said. “We tried to go even quicker on the last run of the day and got an even quicker .959 sixty foot time but we overpowered the track. We’re excited for our trip to Firebird Raceway in Boise June 24-26 for the 34th Annual Fox Hunt. None of this would be possible without the help of Goodguys Rod and Custom Association, Red Line Oil, Andy’s Tee Shirts and Ads That Work. Of course my crew guys Jason Bunker Jeff Accacian, Billy Fereira, Steven Bunker and Cole Rouchenet make sure everything works on the car and that we stay safe.” A shout out must also go to Bunker Race Cars for the chassis set-up and Spec-Rite converters for sorting out our converter issues.

Following their trip to Boise, The team will run at Champion Raceway in Medford, Oregon July 1 & 2.
